There is some truth to that. The NCAAF works better for organic fanfare. It's much easier to root & have more pride for a team that you have history & personal experience with. Whether you went to college there or its simply a hometown (localized) team... And it also works as a perfect compliment to the NFL.

The XFL, even if its after the NFL season, won't ever be viewed as a compliment so long as the talent remains in the NFL. No matter how enjoyable it may appear, one thing will always win out - talent. Right now the talent just simply isn't there for the XFL. Relative to whats on the field some players will certainly stand out but its still a limited product. And with the dilution of the team markets (Texas (Dallas/Houston), NY, etc) it's hard to see the local fanfare going wild over it.

It was pretty solid yesterday.

There will be people that complain that it isn't as good/talented, as the NFL. Well duh! Neither is College football, or High School fooball.

Ed Zachary.

Not NFL. Never understood the college football fascination. Let alone highschool.

If you don't watch it, why would you even care if it survives or not? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm not hear to make sense of it. I'll leave that up to the apologists.

I'm here to hope it dies a quick death.

Why would you care one way or the other, since it has no impact on you whatsoever? Hence it makes no sense.

That and being the son of an NFL journeyman reciever of 16 years.
Yeah, once you've watched pro sports for about 30 years and seen a couple generations cycle through you notice that it probably does help some of these guys who grow up around it. I'm sure McCaffrey gets some of his toughness from watching his father stick it out for 13 years.
Baseball even more so, maybe because major leaguers have enough money to send their kids to all the baseball camps and stuff. Just off the top of my head I can think of a bunch of players sons that ended up major leaguers. Bonds,Griffey, the Boones, the Alomars,Vlad Jr, Biggio. And I still think of Patrick Mahomes as Pat Mahomes's son.

Very true. Austin was groomed for football his entire life. He has another son that was groomed to play football too. Not sure how he is doing.

Agreed. I enjoyed it. I think the realization will set in at some point though. For now I'll keep watching.

Fair enough.

I'm hoping it keeps up with yesterdays games. Would love to have something like this to watch after the Superbowl, to kill the time until the Stanely Cup playoffs start.
