Saturday September 5th. Husky Stadium, Seattle, WA.

This will be the first game of a two game home & home series (this year and next). Both teams will be starting new QB's. A storied history between these two programs for sure.

Michigan
Last year: 9-4 (lost to Alabama 35-16 in Citrus Bowl)
Schedule highlights: Sept. 5 at Washington, Sept. 26 vs. Wisconsin, Oct. 3 vs. Penn State, Oct. 10 at Michigan State, Nov. 28 at Ohio State

After Shea Patterson started the past two seasons at quarterback, Michigan will have a new look with Joe Milton or Dylan McCaffrey. Neither has the experience of Patterson, but the Wolverines could end up with an upgrade at the position. There also should be plenty of talent returning defensively and waiting in the wings. The offensive line must replace three starters, and how the newcomers come together could determine if Michigan finishes with fewer than three losses for the first time under Jim Harbaugh.

Washington
Last year: 8-5 (defeated Boise State 38-7 in Las Vegas Bowl)
Schedule highlights: Sept. 5 vs. Michigan, TBA at Oregon, TBA at USC, TBA at Utah

After six seasons, the Chris Petersen era came to an end at Washington, when he announced he was stepping down after the Las Vegas Bowl. Defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake takes over as the head Husky. Lake’s priorities will be replacing eight senior starters and junior quarterback Jacob Eason, who opted to leave early for the NFL Draft. The Huskies’ defense should be their strength, featuring three players — LB Edefuan Ulofoshio and DBs Asa Turner and Trent McDuffie — who started as freshmen last season.

Ranking the Most Interesting Non-Conference Pac-12 Games of 2020

1. Michigan @ Washington

September 5

Both teams will be breaking in new quarterbacks who rarely saw action this past season. This can be either frustrating, funny, or revealing to watch. A loss by either team will really squash dreams of a Playoff appearance.

Newly promoted Husky head coach Jimmy Lake will have to improve a dismal offense (138th nationally) if the Huskies plan on keeping pace with Oregon and an undoubtedly improved Stanford.

Michigan is losing three starting offensive linemen to the draft, as well as top receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones and tight end Sean McKeon. Michigan's defense should retain it's resilience and toughness to help what should be a struggling offense.

While Ohio St. travels to that FCS sized stadium in Eugene that was built over the top of an old public landfill, Michigan will play here ...

For those Michigan fans who plan on attending this game, make sure to get there early so you can tank up @ The Zone .. beer & wine garden right next to the stadium.

And for a few extra dollars you can take a scenic boat ride to the stadium which usually includes food & drink.

I'm sorry, but who's list has this as a more interesting game than Oregon-Ohio State?

I'm very excited to see them play again. The 2001-2002 games were good and the two have a history (12 games, 4 in the Rose Bowl). Washington's one of my favorite non-UM schools.

agreed. OSU-Oregon is likely to have some serious playoff implications.

@AlaskaGuy I think I mentioned this at some point but my wife's parents just moved to Seattle last year and we've been a few times since and now her sister goes to UW. This will probably be my first ever away game that I'm going to watch in person.

Things that are exiting about Michigan next year IMO:

1. New QB. We finally see a Harbaugh recruit at the position and the room has some talent. We'll see if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Obviously it's my hope that we see an improvement there, a QB that can hit 6'5'' Nico Collins more regularly than we did this year.

2. Lots of players chose to return for us this year, which is great.

3. Our RB's seem to be developing really nicely.

4. The offense really improved from the start of the season this year to the end of the season. Ending up scoring just two points shy of Clemson against the Buckeyes in the final game. Which is a positive sign IMO. So I'm really interested to see if that improvement can continue into next season with an entire year under our belts.

5. This means I get a free vacation because my wife's parents fly us out to visit them. So that's awesome.
