you give me a 10 year $100mm contract. I get rid of Khalil Mack and Amati Cooper - both high quality guys. Then I bring in Vontes Burfict and Antonio Brown - neither of which will play for the remainder of 2019 because they’re dickheads.

You can critic his player selections but the franchise has been known to sign those "high risk" players since they came into the league!

Im not saying its right, but they did cut Browns ass when his stupidity got beyond the point of no return. Plus they pocketed a ton of cash back....

Gruden is COY so far. Hands down
Gruden is not a bad coach. The average idiot fan thinks everyone is terrible at what they do. Every coach is bad, every announcer is bad, hell even every movie and tv show is bad. I vouched for Gruden for the Packers job and everyone laughed.

Yeah but nowadays most tv shows are bad. Reality talent show bullshit!

Yeah but even the good ones get labeled as bad before they even air because the internet and peer pressure forces everyone to agree with each other. Calling Gruden a decent (not even good) coach 2 years ago drew laughs from the sheep of idiots on here. People are afraid to step out of the box.

The biggest problem I would worry with a guy like Gruden is if his way would be a detriment to a team in 2019.

The game passes even the best ones by. Just look how far from current NFL Tom Landry was in the late 80s. One of the best but eventually his way didn't work anymore.

Gruden was excellent in the early 2000s. Just not sure if it will work in the 2020s.

Valid point. I just think most people based their opinion of Gruden on his announcing. I bet half these fuckers don’t even remember Gruden’s coaching pedigree.

Definitely a top candidate as of right now. He has the Raiders playing well and in the play-off hunt despite the distractions. I don't know that I would say hands down though. Shanahan has taken a 2nd to last team overall to the best record in the league (as of now, of course). He will get a lot of credit.
