Do you find yourself rooting for whichever team to win that would extend the series?

I do not particularly like the Red Wings but was rooting hard for them last night just because I wanted to see more hockey. Same with the Flyers. Maybe it is just me, but I want to see all of these series go to 7 games and multiple overtimes. I think that when my team is not playing, i can enjoy hockey for what it truly is as a sport more easily.

Thoughts???

Even though my team hasn't been ousted yet, I'm with you, I want all the series' to go 7 just so there's more hockey to watch.

This years playoff have been the best I've seen in years. Who would want that to end, right?

As a side question for you -

When was the last time you've seen such outstanding hockey being played without the bloodshed? I mean, every series has been hard fought by all teams, but the serious, genuine hate, the distaste for each other isn't there this year.

In years past, there would always be this whole blood sport atmosphere to some series'. For whatever reason, we really haven't seen that this year.

Yet!

I thought that the series between the Caps and Pens last year was a lot like that. It was just intense, hard hitting, hockey. But as for an entire playoofs, yeah this may be the first one. Nothing regrettable yet.

You are a Steelers fan? Damn I was looking forward to givnig you shit when Donovan McNabb won hius first super bowl with the Redskins... :D

I have lived in Pittsburgh and follow the Steelers and root for them as well. I was a huge fan of Ryan Clark when he was in Washington and started to follow him with the Steelers. Now that they have drafted or signed 2/3 of the Hokies defensive line from last year, I will become a bigger fan. Jaron Worilds is the shit. I do wish that they had traded Ben though, to kind of maintain the image.

Agreed on Ben. I never have liked him as a guy, but he always won football games, so I put that aside and appreciated his play on the field. That's going to be increasingly more difficult this year.

The only problem with trading him right now, though, is how difficult it would be to get fair value for him. On the field, his play should bring back a top-tier player in return and a draft pick. But since he'll be suspended to start the season, and with this moral issue hanging over his head, the Steelers would probably only be able to fetch a second-tier player and a lower draft pick. It's just really tough to replace his value on the field.

We saw that with Santonio Holmes. They got, what, a fourth round pick or something for him? His production merrits at least a second round pick, maybe even a first rounder, but his value was low because of his off-field antics.

On the plus side, you will be able to get rid of the other black eye, the wife beater, soon enough:

Ben has to go.

I'm with you guys...the Rooney's have created a every professional aura around this team for decades and they have never tolerated any kind of bullshit in the past and they shouldn't make an exception now.

Same with Reed.

True, they wouldn't get fair market value...not by a long shot, but principles are principles.

It's been a great playoff so far (with the exception of the Sabres losing) I thought last nights third period between the Sharks and Wings was as intense as you can get.

Both teams battled for every inch of ice like it was gold. Good stuff !

Me being a fan of the Red Wings in the Western I don't know. I hate the Sharks and wish I could push the Blackhawks off a building so I guess I am rooting for the Nucks.

I hope I dont need to root for an extra team in the Eastern this year.

The bloodshed could change if Pittsburgh gets through. No love lost between them and either team on the other side. Time will tell, but I think the first round set us up for a solid playoff.

Kickers are very replacable, especially ones who struggle byond 50 yards like Reed. I wouldn't worry about market value from him.

Franchise quarterbacks are very tough to replace. Nearly impossible. There are fewer franchise quarterbacks in the league right now than teams, so market value becomes a greater consideration.

Even so, if the Steelers could get a second-tier quarterback and a first or second round draft pick, they should deal Ben and preserve their image. In the short run, the value would be greater anyway, as Ben won't be playing to start the season. In the long run, well, that depends on what they do with the pick.

If they really want to jettison the thugs, Harrison has to go as well. Smacking around your wife is worse than peeing in public, IMO.

Yup

That was the same reason I was rooting on the Wings last night.
