Idk why you would hire a 67 year old.
Because you are desperate. I too think it is a bad move, but it will at least create some excitement at UNC. They really couldn't get much worse.

Welcome home Mack
To be fair they still haven't recovered from the Sweet Sixteen ass whipping Auburn gave them. Healing takes time.Welcome home Mack

Maybe he got this back. Hope so cuz he is a pretty good guy IMHO.It may have seemed humorous then, but Mack was the perfect man to rebuild NC because he knows how to get the most out of people, whether that be donors, players, coaches, recruits, etc.
I was a skeptic, but what we witnessed on Saturday was 10x the football team than I saw at any point the last 2 years.
Because Mack Brown was the best hire for the job. UNC needed a polarizing figure because that's what it takes to compete in a state with 7 FBS programs. Mack immediately hired great assistants, squeezed millions of $$$ out of donors for renovations, saved our 2019 recruiting class, went wall to wall meeting every HS coach in NC, and gave our guys confidence. He brought in transfers from Clemson, Auburn and VT, got rid of the Sun Belt caliber players that Fedora left us, is building a very good 2020 and 2021 class, and is selling out tickets.

But the results showed he definitely forgot how to get the most from those you listed the last three years or so at Texas. (Well, except for donors. Resources were not an issue there.) But the recruiting, coaching and playing were underachieving.
It certainly is looking good for them right now. We’ll see how they hold up as the year progresses.
