Idk why you would hire a 67 year old.

Because you are desperate. I too think it is a bad move, but it will at least create some excitement at UNC. They really couldn't get much worse.

I agree. At age 67 I just can't see Mack Brown doing his magic at UNC once again but I guess we will find out.

Welcome home Mack

To be fair they still haven't recovered from the Sweet Sixteen ass whipping Auburn gave them. Healing takes time.

To further advance that education is not important at North Carolina,

head referee awarded the kicker an 18 point field goal to win the game.

Because Mack Brown was the best hire for the job. UNC needed a polarizing figure because that's what it takes to compete in a state with 7 FBS programs. Mack immediately hired great assistants, squeezed millions of $$$ out of donors for renovations, saved our 2019 recruiting class, went wall to wall meeting every HS coach in NC, and gave our guys confidence. He brought in transfers from Clemson, Auburn and VT, got rid of the Sun Belt caliber players that Fedora left us, is building a very good 2020 and 2021 class, and is selling out tickets.

It may have seemed humorous then, but Mack was the perfect man to rebuild NC because he knows how to get the most out of people, whether that be donors, players, coaches, recruits, etc.

I was a skeptic, but what we witnessed on Saturday was 10x the football team than I saw at any point the last 2 years.

Maybe he got this back. Hope so cuz he is a pretty good guy IMHO.

But the results showed he definitely forgot how to get the most from those you listed the last three years or so at Texas. (Well, except for donors. Resources were not an issue there.) But the recruiting, coaching and playing were underachieving.

Mack Brown is a great coach. Whether he has it in him for a few years, time will tell.

It certainly is looking good for them right now. We’ll see how they hold up as the year progresses.

Agreed and Mack has admitted such. He felt he gave way too much power to assistants when it was announced that there was a coach in waiting, and it swayed too many of the decisions he used to make that made them successful. Obviously something happened around that time and I don't believe it was that the game passed him by, partly because what I think makes Mack a great coach has nothing to do with X's and O's. It was cultural.

They've already progressed beyond where anyone had them, just last week. Larry left Mack no depth and a team that couldn't get healthy. I don't want to speculate that because they looked MUCH BETTER last week, that suddenly they'll compete. UNC will take some licks this year BUT the discipline the guys played with was so much better than at any point in years. Even Larry's best team lost to Spurrier's worst. Mack, to me, has already proven he still has what made him so great to begin with: his ability to communicate, to connect, to network, to recruit, to make good hires, etc. Just stay the course, build depth and recruit............ oh and pay assistants.

UNC's new interim chancellor and hopefully soon to be permanent, is Kevin Guskiewicz who is a Sports Medicine researcher, Neuroscience specialist, and is a member of the NFL's head, neck and spine committee. Simply put, he's a football guy, loves the sport, promotes it, and we have hopes that in conjunction with Mack, football can be elevated at UNC. All the resources are there, just need the dedication.

He still looks like he's going to stroke out on the sideline during a game.

You've made this 67 year old put on his frowny face....

View attachment 191466

His frown is from the encroaching price of his deal at the crossroads. Lucifer's Vessel is but mortal flesh. The Indwelling doesn't halt the ravages of time nor shuck the mortal coil. The time for his soul's descent comes ever nearer. The gridiron glory that was so dear a reward at the outset brings less and less joy. The inevitability of his fate grows darker and deeper and is ever present in his mind. Doom is a shadow that's still there in the dark.

You beat South Carolina. I'd hold off on ordering playoff tickets just yet.
