I project the following are off the 40-man by Opening Day

Omar Beltre (see ya big guy ... made it to the big time for a cpl of outings)
Mike Gonzalez (just too old ... and BAL lucked out with TEX trading Strop for you)
Yoshi Tateyama (back to Japan)
Koji Uehara (traded back to BAL ... maybe for Pedro Strop! Hope hope hope)
Merkin Valdez (who?)
Darren Oliver (retires and TEX does not talk him out of it)
Brandon Webb (maybe signs a minor league contract otherwise ... see ya)
CJ Wilson (can't win the big ones ... signs with Florida)

Taylor Teagarden (maybe signed on a minor league deal)
Matt Treanor (retires takes coaching position for TEX)
Yorvit Torrealba (traded for anything they can get)

Andres Blanco (too injury prone)
Esteban German (adios)

Julio Borbon (traded along with Torrealba)

On the cusp ... David Murphy (maybe a sign and trade) and Darren O'Day (although he's pretty cheap)

Beltre will be kept
Michael Gonzalez - the rangers have already said they want him back.
Uehara - the rangers keep him and expect to see the pitcher that they expected when they traded for him.
Valdez - will be kept
CJ - the rangers want him back but they probably expect his contract numbers to be lower than he thought he would get.

Torrealba will return as Napoli's backup

Andres Blanco will be back as the utility infielder

David Murphy is the ideal 4th outfield they won't let him go

all the others are probably gone

Well we'll see ... I think it will be tough for Omar Beltre at his age to get his arm back.

I think Mike Gonzalez (33yo in 2012) and Merkin Valdez (30yo in 2012) are both too old for their roles. Don't think that Gonzolez is a DO in the making. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't see a spot for Valdez and there is too much other pitching talent that TEX needs to make room for coming up.

Agree Torrealba might be back as a b/up which is really all he ever was before TEX and his stint in SD. I just hope there could be other options that TEX will look at ... although since he is under contract for next year you are probably right. I just don't like how he calls a game and bounces all over the place ... and how he reaches rather than move his feet (like him short arming Napoli's throw in Game 3).

I really like Blanco too ... but I wonder if his back will let him return to his UIF value.

As for Murphy ... with Martin coming up the OF will probably be Hamilton, Cruz, Martin, and Gentry. I don't see any room for Murphy as #4. Just realized I left Endy Chavez off my list. He's gone too IMO.

Bring back CJ (if no better options exist and if the price is right) and Gonzalez. Don't trade Yorvi unless we have a better back-up C option. Lock-up Nap this offseason to an extension. Sign Fielder (we need another big LH bat).

1B - Fielder
2B - Kinsler
SS - Andrus
3B - Beltre
DH - Young
CF - Gentry/Martin platoon
RF - Cruz
LF - Hamilton

Bench:
RF/1B - Moreland
OF - Murphy
OF - Gentry/Martin (platoon)
C - Torrealba
IF - Blanco

Pitchers (let these youngsters grow) CC/Buerhle aside I say we keep our starters. Not just anyone can come in be successful at TBIA in my opinion. CC is a workhorse, and Buerhle has proven clutch in the postseason and I believe he no-hit the Rangers at TBIA once right?

CC/CJ/Buerhle
Holland
Ogando
Harrison
Lewis
Feldman (spot starter)

Bullpen
Feliz
Adams
FA - RH - throw some money at Heath Bell (tell him be set-up man and win a WS and get paid).
FA - LH
Gonzalez
Kirkman
RH - Feldman

I don't trust Lowe/Uehara/Yoshi.

Interesting posts ... but you are OT. Question was who gets cut from the 40man before Opening Day.

You sorta got there ... but TEX has contract priorities it needs to address with everyone who was key except Beltre ... othen than ne and Young who is good through 2013 ... everyone else is going into a contract season. How much do you think that will cost?

TEX will figure out 1b on its own ... it isn't going to go after either Fielder or Pujols ... too expensive when having to solve every single other contract.

WMW my bad on going OT. To answer your OP, I think the following guys are gone most likely: Oliver, Webb, Treanor, Beltre, and Valdez.

These are fringe/borderline dependent on other moves and spring training performance and injuries: Yoshi, Koji, German, TT, and Borbon.

Agreed, Fielder or Pujols would be a luxury. I'm a huge Moreland fan but it's hard to pass up those two other guys without giving strong consideration, especially if a premium pitcher is unavailable that would fit well with the Nolan's philosophy and TBIA.

Further, I understand that other guys will be in contract years. However, based on the new ownership, DFW market/fan support, recent success, and new mega Fox Sports media deal, I think we can probably be the type of team that sports a $125 million or so team salary moving forward as of 2015. It might be stretch though - I haven't evaluated the numbers and nobody knows what the Rangers budget outlook is moving forward.

We will be 125+ million dollar team just after arbitration much less signing any big name free-agents

okay you may see Omar go. according to locker room sources the Rangers like Michael Gonzalez and are working to bring him back and Valdez at 30 may still have value to the team. The rangers have made it habit of carrying 5 outfielders on their roster like this year: Hamilton, Cruz, Murphy, Chavez & Gentry and unless someone pops with a killer offer for Murphy i have to belive he'll be with us next year. maybe they might replace Chavez with Martin.

I agree. Guys like Murphy, Lowe, O'Day and even Harrison are fringe players who can easily be replaced by Martin, Hamburger, Scheppers and with a little more seasoning, Neil Rameriz. I just don't get the notion of penciling in Harrison in next years rotation. JMO

where did you come up with the 125+M total? i've review several sites and the Rangers have about 22 players under contract (including arbitration) at around 100M. we could release 1 (Colby) and possibly trade 1 or 2 of the others bring the payroll down to the 92.5M which would allow the rangers to pursue at least 2 maybe 3 free agents

Which free agents are you talking about and which players are you talking about as tradeable?

Do you honestly think Harrison can be replaced with hamburger? Give the kid a break. He's 26 years old, pitched a winning record (and not just 1-2 games over .500) and has an era well under 4.00. I see him being a solid #3 guy for Texas. Hamburger didn't even hold a candle to Harrison in my opinion when he pitched.

I see Harrison as being a good AL West pitcher..mediocre offenses. Not good enough to make the playoff roster last year and showed why this year.
Were you one of the ESPN posters who saw Adams and Uehara as being the final pieces to a WS run?

You are purposely playing dumb. I ask for your opinion.

and i posted my opinions numerous times and every time i do you make comments about rumors.

1. the Rangers should make a maximum effort to re-sign CJ.
2. they need to re-sign Michael Gonzalez to a 2 or 3 year deal.
3. they need to let Oliver walk and look to sign Javier Lopez as their 2nd lefty in the bullpen.
4. i see Colby as a liability. has he produced for us? yes, but he also is a batting practice pitcher at times leading the league in homeruns allowed and if we could sign an Oswalt or Buehrle to a low-impact 2 or 3 year deal then i would buy out Colby.
5. i would look at 1st base as our 1 weak area and look to replace Moreland with a better quality player. it wouldn't hurt to look at Pujols or Fielder and maybe we could get one. or if that's not going to happen then i would look at Casey Kotchman.
