Life After Game of Thrones

There are a few things down the road I am looking forward.

Game of Thrones prequel obviously
Lord of the Rings prequel - I loved the Silmarillion and Lost Tales so I'm excited to read those stories.
I wasn't initially but the trailer got me excited for The Watchmen
Foundation Triliogy. This was probably my favorite Sci-Fi series as a kid. I can't wait to see it.

They are doing Foundation? Holy shit!

Will they start with Foundation and Psycho-History, or will they start with some Robot/Empire stories first?

I read those books so long ago, it will be fun to be reminded of them...

Not many details. It's going to be on Apple's streaming service supposedly. But I don't even know if they've started with principle photography yet.

Deadwood was a good one. Perhaps they ran out of material and decided to just end it on a good note. Something GoT should have done.

GoT was fine until they got past GRRM's writing...that's when it went downhill.

They shouldn't have made a show based on an unfinished series of books in the first place

Martin is going to have some of the same problems. Even if the books were done, the ending is going to feel disappointing to most people.

He will likely spend more time covering all the various subplots. But he also has a lot more subplots to cover. He has to deal with Victarion/Euron more thoroughly, Lady Stoneheart/BwB, Young Griff, and get Dany off of Essos.

I am not sure he can really do it all in 2 books.

But it is going to be tough to wrap all the stories up in a satisfying way.

I don’t think it was necessary for him to finish, only that the show didn’t continue after the book. Just end the series once the material is gone.

Logically one would assume he could've or would've devoted all his time wrapping the source material given a six to eight year head start.

Not that upset I've missed GoT.

I'll watch the rest of the NBA playoffs, some Tigers games and a little local news. That'll be about it until it gets cold out/football.

In hindsight, it would have been best that way. GOT will always be remembered as a great show until the last 2 ½ seasons when it turned to shit. Plenty of good shows ended without closure, and are remembered fondly.

I think people will look back on it very fondly in general.

Had they not finished most people would have never forgiven them.
