One thought about every Redskins 2018 draft pick

i would like to see apke step up more and be healthy . he is a project

Settle is another guy i think can work his way into more snaps

stroman had a great learning year last season and played more then he was ready for . can he make a fuller like jump in year 2

christian needs to step up and hopefully he has gained more strength

SDH should be a starter or push for a key role

we all know about payne

Sorry but Stroman is far from Fuller.

i said fuller like jump

Not only that - you also simply asked "can he make a Fuller like jump?". You made no claim about his current or future value. That also doesn't even mean that he can ever be as good as Fuller but rather can he take a big leap & be at least a serviceable CB. Who the hell knows.

One other thing related to Strohman. In the past I have seen a lot of people here complain about the Redskins not being patient enough with their picks & letting them go elsewhere too soon. That could be the case with this guy. You can't simply evaluate him based on his rookie season - a lot can change in the next few years (doesn't mean it will - it is TBD).

Also it should not be this whole "woulda, shoulda, coulda" stuff for Fuller. He is not on the Redskins at this time so it doesn't matter. Sure the trade was bad, but it is in the rear view mirror now - time to think ahead.

I think the look backs are part of the process to help evaluate what this FO has done and in most cases screwed up.

If I remember correctly there was a huge difference of opinion in our war last year about Payne. I thought most people wanted James. Hopefully Payne excels. If he become a great inside pass rusher then its the right move.

Being an inside pass rusher would be a bonus. Stopping the run and pushing the collapsing the pocket so others can get there will be just fine.

Run stuffers usually don't get picked in the top 15. Dominant safeties do. We have to ask ourselves if we did draft James would we have paid big money for Collins this year? Plus this is a deep year for DT not for safeties. Our run defense was so bad two years ago there could of been panic in the draft room. I thought at the time James was the BPA and a position of need. Lets just hope Payne does well.

You win football games with dominant offensive and defensive lines and a good QB. Safety should be much lower in the pecking order. CBs are more important than safeties.

I disagree, in today game Safeties are higher in the pecking order b/c they have to shut down TE's, some WR's, AND stop the run. James did all of these things which made him a RARE talent. going #17 is a total joke. IF Payne shows pass rush ability then yes he moves up the talent chain. Is Payne just as talented as the Bama guy Williams coming out? He is forecasted as a top 5 pick. Why? b/c he can pass rush.

Tell me how many safeties are drafted in the 1st round compared to OL, DL and edge rushers (stand up DEs) after the draft this year.

im comparing do it all safeties to run stuffing DT's. Of course pass rushers and OT's get drafted the highest b/c its a passing league.

What do you mean "hope Payne does well"? He already is doing fine & I see no reason why he won't continue to shine (barring injury). You make it sound like he is nothing more than a project. Also - if they get major contributors in the draft I am fine w/ those moves. The real problems are taking guys in the draft who make minimal or no contributions.

I think dean preferred Derwin James, so when he liked someone else he spends his time downgrading the guy we drafted. See ….. well, just about everyone.

i like Payne. I'm just saying I would rather have a do it all safety than just a run stopper. If Payne continues to provide great pass rush then yes its a great pick.
