So, I have a couple of weeks in my main league to announce my keepers, but I have been tossing this around for a couple of months already and it will kick into high gear as the deadline approaches.

We ultimately keep 3 players (2 offensive and 1 IDP). On Super Bowl Sunday, we will cut down to 5 players. We do this so people can start preparing for the draft sooner, but they are not locked into naming their keepers right after the season and before NFL's FA and draft and trades and all that. Also, our owners can trade off this 5 man roster and improve their keepers and/or draft positions.

The only restriction to this 5 man squad is that you have to have at least 1 IDP on the list, since you ultimately have to keep 1 IDP. I have 4 bonafide offensive keepers prospects and hope to trade 2 away during the off season, but that may be difficult. I also feel like I have maybe up to 4 bonafide IDPs, but 2 really stand out. I feel like I have to keep all 4 of my offensive players, since they will be worth more if I do find a trading partner. So, that leaves me in the position where i have to choose my IDP keeper before this deadline, since I don't want to throw an offensive player back in the pool yet. It is possible that I could keep 2 IDPs on my 5 man squad and try to trade one of them, but I think that I wouldn't get as much value in return and it would be just as hard to find a trade partner for an IDP, if not harder. Also, I have a couple of extra picks in the early rounds already and could afford to spend one to get what would probably be the first IDP off the board, which is hopefully the guy I end up dropping.

PPR league, bonus points for TDs over 40 yards. 1/50 return yards.

On to the players...

RB Leveon Bell
RB James Conner
WR Tyreek Hill
WR Odell Beckham, Jr.

I think you guys would agree that all of these guys should go in the first 2 rounds of a redraft league.

So, my choice comes down to my IDP...

LB Luke Kuechly
LB Bobby Wagner
S Jamal Adams
S Derwin James

Adams and James are nice, but I think the choice comes down to Kuechly and Wagner. Kuechly is a little younger, but his concussion issues scare me a little if we are splitting hairs between the two. Not that Wagner hasn't had his share of injuries, but head issues can shorten a career more than a tweaked ankle here and there. I don't think there is a wrong answer here, but if you had the choice, who do you keep?

There is no limit to how long I can keep either player and there is no draft pick compensation that I would give up to keep either.

Well I don't IDP but it seems like you have it right with Kuechly and the 4 guise from offense.

Kuechly and Wagner on their back nine

Gimme James. Looks like a star in the making.

For reference though, what were the point totals of these guys this year in your league? ...and what positions do you start and how many? (i.e. S and CB...DB...or just individual?)

We start 7 IDPs... 2 DL, 2 LBs, 2 DBs, and 1 flex. I usually will have my flex as a LB since, as a rule, they score more points than anyone else on D. Our top 5 from this past year at each position...

DL

Aaron Donald - 179
JJ Watt - 154
Danielle Hunter - 150.06
Calais Campbell - 141
Chris Jones - 138.67

LB

Leonard, Darius - 225.26
Wagner, Bobby - 189.63
Littleton, Cory - 186.60
Kuechly, Luke - 175.00
Martinez, Blake - 173.00

DB

Adams, Jamal - 164.44
Williams, Shawn - 160.36
Johnson, John - 154.54
James, Derwin - 148.40
Bethea, Antoine - 144.00

Bobby Wagner if you're concerned about those concussions.
Also, he's a stud LB, Keuchley is a stud LB, you really can't go wrong imo

Agree - especially using your scoring when both out did Adams anyway. ....

Id keep James over Connor.

Normally DBs aren't something I'd commit to like that. But he looks to be a tackle machine and won't be dependent on Ints for points.

Be really hard to let Kuechley go back in the pool though.

He's an awesome blitzer too. And played without the Bosa effect most of the season.

High ceiling, imo. Also, I find LB easier to draft and/or stream.

That said, I traded for Kuechly and David in fleaflicker league...and that did not work out so well, even though they were both fairly steady.

Good point on doing it without Bosa for most of the year.

That should help lead to more turnovers in the future for sure.

I'd vote Wagner. Kuechly concussions is the only reason.

I like James. I actually loved my IDPs this year. I think it is the best I have ever put together.

Let me preface my comments by saying even though I was in an IDP league, I was far removed from following the finer points of my IDP players.

I think it's a mistake to keep a DB. They're almost like QB. One good season following by a disappointing one. LB are more steady.

Plus if this kid becomes a top notch DB, then offenses could game plan away from him. It's happened to other DB.

Wagner for me.

I agree 100 percent with. I have been playing pretty intrusive idp for a good amount of time and I can tell u in a redraft idp league Wagner would be picked in the first round including offensive players. He would probably be the top 2 or 3 defensive players taken for whatever that's worth.

id say kuechly. its close with him and wagner. I see the panthers as sucking more. Which would in turn leave kuechly with more oppertunities for points than wagner and the ball control seahawks

i dont do IDP but thats my thoughts

My rebuttal.

Safties aren't corners. Much harder to game plan away from Earl Thomas than Richard Sherman.

Streaming LB has a better shot at a median score than streaming DB, as DB seem to have a wider range of outcomes and an easier dud outcome.

With those starting requirements, I'm keeping Derwin..the next Palamalu, Lott, what's his name from Seattle,...Wagner and Keuchly are great but could fall off the earth at any time
