The NFL decided to make ties a thing. They could have set-up a better tie breaking system for games but they didn't. That said, a tie being not a loss and not a win stands as better than any loss. Brilliant huh?

The OT system the NFL uses sucks. They can surely come up with something better. Maybe play 8 minutes and then a shoot out. Both teams start at the 20.

Yep! It used to be sudden death. Now, they wanted to be fair to both teams and give each an opportunity to win the game. I actually like that system, that was until they put OT on a timer. Now as you say, it Sucks!

I say this, use the college system with this twist, If no team is ahead after the timed OT, first team that scores a TD wins.

Exactly. Put another way tiebreakers only come into play when you have the exact same record. 7-7 does not equal 7-6-1. The Vikings have a current win % of .536 which is higher than the Skins win % of .500. Not that hard to figure out.

Maybe this will help.

The Redskins were undefeated one season with the exception of a loss to Dallas. That victory was Dallas’ only victory that season. Maybe we shouldn’t have been in the playoffs and Dallas should have. Or maybe Dallas should have been in the playoffs but another team shouldn’t have.
