Its heartbreaking. I'm 43. The Skins went to the Superbowl when I was 7, 8, 12, and 16. Yes, I'm one of those spoiled Redskins fans that thought going to the Superbowl was a right of passage.

It has really made me appreciate the 05 and 07 teams.

Cooley
Moss
Taylor
Portis
Marcus Washington
Lavar
Samuels and Jansen
Randy Thomas
Smoot, Landry, Rogers and Springs
Gibbs, Bugel, Gregg

That's the squad that walks on water in my 19 year old son's mind. Sad.

Back to this bunch. Sunday will say a lot. For whatever reason, under Jay, when this team gets punched in the mouth they usually respond.

If they give up 30 to Kessler and come out flat, then it really is over.

Yep. If the offense can't run the ball or falls short overall I can understand it given the injuries. However having the defense not stop the run, not generate a pass rush, cover just about nobody & miss tackle after tackle is unacceptable & for the most part these guys can't use injuries as an excuse.

I swear if the coach sees any of the DBs half assing a tackle (for fear of getting injured or whatever) they should park their ass on the bench - don't care who is the replacement. They don't need guys who are too afraid to make plays. Ditto for guys like P. Smith who don't stay in their lanes because they are trying to make the flashy play.

Allen and Payne have clearly hit a rookie wall.

Ioannidis being banged up has hurt, the ILBs are a joke right now, and HaHa want no part of any contact.

Well we have to make a game of it if we can . Yeah 6-10 helps for the draft but as long as we have. A shot at a WC. You have to fight to get it

dad, I'm beginning to think I was too generous to the Redskins predicting they would finish 7-9 on another thread on this site before the season started but I've still got a chance to be right.

Do whatever it takes to keep Moreau's minutes to a minimum. He is horrible.
Moreau should be playing outside, not in the slot. As dad would say, another contingency to the dumb arse trade!

well guys dean told me FM would easily replace fuller and there would be no learning curve at all in the slot

Josh Johnson (Traditional Stats)- Sanchez was benched following the first drive of the second half, and rightfully so. Journeyman Josh Johnson replaced him for the final 29 snaps of the game.

These were Johnson’s first snaps in an NFL game since the 2013 season, and his 29 snaps eclipsed his total from 2012 and 2013 combined (16). This was also the first time he’s attempted a pass in the regular season since 2011. The 6 years and 363 days between his passing attempts are the most by any player since Doug Flutie went 8 years and 277 days between passes. Flutie had a much better excuse though, as he was busy winning three Grey Cups and three CFL MVP awards during his NFL hiatus.

On Sunday, Johnson completed 11 of his 16 passes for 195 yards, 5 first downs, a touchdown and an interception. He was not sacked once.

His 68.8% completion rate, 104.9 passer rating, 70.8 raw QBR and 12.2 YPA ranked 4th, 3rd, 4th and 1st by a Washington signal caller this year. Every one of those figures represented a new career high for Johnson (minimum of 10 attempts).

Josh Johnson (Rushing)- Johnson gained 45 yards, scored a touchdown and picked up 4 first downs, two of which accounted for all of the team’s third-down conversions, on his 7 carries against the Giants. He led the team in rushing yards, first downs and touchdowns, all of which were also career highs.

His 45 yards on the ground were the most by a Redskins’ QB since the start of the 2015 season. Robert Griffin is the only Washington signal caller who has gained more rushing yards in a single contest in the last ten years.

Redskins QB Roulette- Johnson will be the the fourth quarterback to start for the Redskins in 2018, which will mark the first time in franchise history that the team has started more than three different QBs in a single season. All four of the team’s quarterbacks this year-are 32 or older.

Colt McCoy- Colt McCoy is still on the active roster, because the team is hoping that he can return if they make a playoff run. Expect him to be put on IR in a week or two.

here is sanchez

The Sanchize completed 6-of-14 passes, gained just 38 yards on those throws, did not throw a touchdown or a first down, was sacked five times and threw 2 interceptions, one of which was returned for a pick-six. He did not gain any rushing yards either. The yardage, touchdown, sack and first down totals were all season worsts by a Redskins QB.

Let’s take it another step further, shall we. Here is where those same figures rank among all Redskins’ players since the merger: 7th-worst, 6th-worst and 7th-worst.

this is the kind of coaching decision dean feels we need to keep around

Josh Doctson- Doctson was in for 88.7% of the offensive snaps and caught 4-of-5 targets for 3 first downs and a career-high 84 yards. The third-year wideout was responsible for Washington’s second, third and fifth-longest plays against the Giants. His gains of 31 and 30 yards were the seventh and eighth-biggest plays of his career.

He’s posted five of his ten highest yardage totals in the last five weeks (30 NFL games). This was also the third straight week he’s topped 50 yards, which is quite something considering he had never gone over 40 yards in back-to-back games until about a month and a half ago

now tell me how colt and JJ can find this guy fairly often yet CDC couldnt find him with a GPS ?

Tony Bergstrom- Bergstrom’s ankle injury sidelined him for the game. He will likely miss this coming week’s game against the Jaguars, as well.

His 51.6 PFF grade on the year ranks 68th out of 84 qualifying guards this season

another guy dean advocated for keeping .

Skins Stats & Snaps: Giants @ Redskins (Defense/ST)

Stacy McGee- McGee was the biggest beneficiary of Ioannidis’ injury, as the sixth-year interior lineman logged his highest snap total (28) since Week 14 of last season.

Predictably, he didn’t do much with the opportunity. McGee failed to register a pressure on his ten rushes and made 2 tackles in the running game. His pair of stops came on gains of 1 and 2 yards and represented a new season high.

McGee has only registered 4 tackles and a single pressure (a hurry) on his 90 snaps and 40 pass rushes this season

remember when dean touted these 2 guys mcclain and mcgeee as answers ? didnt come close to working out

Tim Settle- The young rookie D-lineman played 20 snaps and enjoyed a career-best 31.3% snap share.

Settle was unable to generate any pressure on his 5 pass-rushing plays, and only recorded a single tackle on his 15 other snaps. The tackle was a 2-yard stop on a 1st-and-10 run by Wayne Gallman.

Caleb Brantley- After seeing the field for a season-high 4 snaps in Week 13, Caleb Brantley was inactive for the ninth time this season. No player currently on roster who has been with the team for more than a week, has played fewer snaps from scrimmage (7) than Brantley has this year. I’m still not sure if they should’ve gotten rid of Anthony Lanier for him.

these guys need snaps if we are out of the playoffs
