We have to draft a qb in first round Alex will be out at least a year
good thing we gave up all those resources to get him
didn't give up draft picks for him next year
It really does look like a Theesman (yeah I know) type break. If this is a career ending injury, how does it factor into our cap? Will they have a buyout option for Smith and how does that factor with respects to our cap? Anybody?
Derek Carr might be available in the not too distant future....This ^^^^^ is just about the best fucking thing, hell, the only fucking thing, anyone can say that's good about the Alex Smith trade. I said it before, I'll say it again.......The trade for Alex Smith is the worst fiuckin trade of the Snyder Era. Honorable mention to Bruce Allen for the hand his dumb ass had in the deal. Fuck.
If its career ending, the only thing the Skins can do is designate him a june 1st cap move. A straight cut or retirement would put them almost $2M over the cap. A june 1st designation allows them to split the hit over two years.
good thing we gave up all those resources to get him
So to be clear, if Smith retires we're 2M over the cap, (they won't cut him) A June 1st move puts them over the cap by 1 million correct?
He'll never admit it but Colt has been doing this all year.![]()
Trust me. Its career ending for a player his age. I broke my leg the exact same way. I was 15. It took me close to 18 months before it was 100%. Given modern medicine and treatment, even a year recovery means he isn't on the field until the 2nd half of next season. As much as I was for keeping Cousin's and I was against the Smith trade I hope it is not career ending. If I remember correctly Theesman tried to come back but could not.
Not that I am anxious to Smith behind a Redskin center again, but I hate to see injuries at all much less career ending injuries.
