Breaking Bad movie officially going down with Aaron Paul

As suggested by the original report’s vague log line about “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom,” the film will follow the misadventures of Aaron Paul’s always-in-trouble Jesse Pinkman. In other words, unlike prequel spinoff series Better Call Saul, the film will serve as the highly anticipated sequel to the 2013 series finale.

Interesting that they chose to go the movie route instead of another TV series. But I trust anything Gilligan does at this point. This should be good

It was not revealed if this project is planned for theatrical release or AMC..... so..... perhaps it will be a mini-series on AMC..... maybe a 2 or 3 night affair? Something like The Little Drummer Girl two-night mini-series which was broadcast in the UK last week and is coming up next week on AMC.

:noidea:

Either way, it doesn't really matter with how I was thinking about it. One of the strengths of Breaking Bad (and prestige TV in general) is the format allows for more detailed story telling and character development since you have more time to explore that stuff with multiple episodes. Movies are much more condensed so it could be a risk for them to try it this way. But like I said, everything that Gilligan has touched lately has turned to gold so I trust him fully

How was Battle Creek a couple of years ago? It looked interesting but I know it pretty much bombed right out of the gates but figured that was more due to the time slot CBS put it in.
As for this movie, I was happy with the way Breaking Bad ended but I'll still likely watch it because of how great that show was.

Jesse and a bunch of characters that don't really matter?

If it picks up right after he smashes that fence, it's prolly what we're getting.

Bob Odenkirk says Breaking Bad movie already filmed: "They did it"

Jesse Pinkman might return sooner than we think. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Saul Goodman himself, aka Emmy-nominee Bob Odenkirk, confirmed that production on the much-hyped Breaking Bad movie has finished.

“I’ve heard so many different things about it, but I am excited about the Breaking Badmovie,” Odenkirk said. “I can’t wait to see it. I don’t know what people know and don’t know. I find it hard to believe you don’t know it was shot. They did it. You know what I mean? How is that a secret? But it is. They’ve done an amazing job of keeping it a secret.

As previously reported, series creator Vince Gilligan wrote and directed the film, which centers around Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) following his escape from the white supremacists’ compound at the end of season five. Production took place in New Mexico.

Like Odenkirk insisted, the film has been cloaked in secrecy, though its rumored supporting cast includes Bryan Cranston (Walter White), Krysten Ritter (Jane), Jonathan Banks (Mike), Jesse Plemons (Todd), Charles Baker (Skinny Pete), Matt Jones (Badger), Robert Forster(Ed), Tess Harper (Mrs. Pinkman), and Kevin Rankin (Kenny).

The film will initially premiere on Netflix, which has acquired its first-run rights. It will subsequently air on AMC — the home to Breaking Bad during its five-season TV run. Not surprisingly, a release date has yet to be announced.

In related news, Odenkirk also confirmed that he’s currently filming the fifth season of spinoff series Better Call Saul, which returns in 2020. “Season five is just everything’s on fire, and it’s just burning down around us,” Odenkirk teased.

Yeah, sounds par for the course for this franchise.
