Cardinals...we gave up 6 points, 68 rushing yards, 4.5 YPC, and 145 passing yards. We rushed for 182 and passed for 247 scoring 24.
The Rams gave up 0 points, 54 rushing, 3.6 YPC, and 83 passing. They rushed for 90, passed for 354, and scored 34 points.
The Bears gave up 14 points, 53 rushing, 2.9 YPC, and 168 passing. They rushed for 122 and passed for 194, scoring 16.
We are clearly better than the Bears and worse than the Rams here. The opponent really doesn’t say much.

Colts...We gave up 21 points, 104 rushing, 3.7 YPC, and 177 passing. We scored 9 points, 65 rushing, 269 passing.
The Bengals gave up 23 points, 75 rushing, 3.4 YPC, and 305 passing. They scored 34 points, 101 rushing, and 229 passing.
The Eagles gave up 16 points, 68 rushing, 5.2 YPC, and 141 passing. They scored 20, rushed for 152, and threw for 227.
We are the only team that lost to the Colts. We were outperformed by both offenses and at a minimum one defense.

Packers...we gave up 17 points, 100 yards rushing, 5.9/carry, and 240 passing. We scored 31, rushing for 166 and throwing for 220.
Bears...gave up 24 points, 69 rushing, 3.8/ carry, and 301 passing. They scored 23points, rushed for 139, and threw for 155.
Vikings...gave up 29 points, 98 rushing 4.1/carry, and 253 passing. They scored 29 points, rushed for 68 and threw for 412.
We are the only team to beat the Packers. We outperformed both defenses and one offense.


Where the hell does that leave us?

It leaves me very confused about who we are and who the other teams are. This is a weird year through three weeks.

I think (not sure) we are who we thought we were before the season started.

Good offensive team when we have a balanced offense
Better on defense than past years. Drops are part of the game but GB had a few and a QB on a leg and a half.
Just not sure whether we laid an egg against the Colts or they are better. I lean towards the egg.

It will be interesting to see how the Redskin D does against Brees and how the offense does against a Saints D that has been very poor so far.

For as much as I have railed against Bruce Allen over the years, it seems to me that the sun is finally shining on that dog's ass in his quest to remake the team in a formulaic mode of yesteryear.

Now I'm not intimating that this is a championship team, nor one that I've personally predicted to have an above .500 record this season. What I am saying is that the current team very closely resembles previous more successful editions.

Through two games, we've witnessed a team in search of it's identity. On the one hand there was an attempt to open up and do things outside of itself that resulted in a loss at home to Indianapolis. In two other games, they've stuck to a Gibbs (#1) like formula that featured a balance between running the ball and throwing it. The result two wins and likely a conviction that for better or worse, they are going to win or lose games based on this formula.

No matter how lucky Allen and Co. were in drafting Johnathan Allen and Daron Payne, they are here now and are the linchpins to a solid defensive front that rivals those of the first Gibbs era. There's still a long ways to go and plenty of question yet unanswered, but make no mistake, Allen has somehow gotten this team closer to resembling those that his boss loved in his youth.
