Oakland's run is defying all logic. You look at that team's roster on paper and they look like a 72-90 team. Beane is a genius. Can't imagine what he could do with a $180 million payroll.

Let's not pretend they have no talent, Beane deserves credit but this team is good on paper: Davis is possibly the best consistent power hitter in baseball, the Trivino Treinen combo is beyond comprehension good, etc. They deserve to be there. Damn shame the cheap punks who own them didn't even add anything this year.

Athletics acquired RHP Mike Fiers from the Tigers for two players to be named later or cash considerations.

The two sides were discussing a possible deal before last week's trade deadline, but they were ultimately able to get something done via the waiver process. Fiers has enjoyed a nice year for Detroit, posting a 3.48 ERA and 87/26 K/BB ratio in 119 innings over 21 starts. He's a solid depth piece for Oakland's rotation as they attempt to hold a Wild Card spot.

Yankees need to get Judge and Sanchez back in the line-up. Once (if) that happens, I like their chances vs anyone.
