I didn't like it either....but you can't tell players what they can or can't do.

But how many times do you think something like this will happen?

It's kinda like the KD move to the Warriors. That only happened because the PA wouldn't agree to staggering the cap which gave the Warriors the space to bring KD on. If they had staggered the cap, the Warriors would have had no way of signing him.

Historically, all pro sports teams have looked at their league rules to find ways to game the system. What we are seeing in the NBA is the players joining in on the fun.
exactly. thus, it needs a change.

IMO players associations are too powerful. they shouldnt be treated like a union. theyre millionaires. how many millionaires do you know in unions?

I don't even watch that anymore but I'm a Knick fan so....... I'll throw playoff game on my laptop while I watch something on TV and switch if it's something like game one of the finals. Once the Cavs lost game one I didnt watch a second of even the finals.
The Finals were a snooze after game 1 for sure, but the conference finals both went 7 games

They are millionaires because of the unions
Go back and read about how players got treated when the owners had all the power. Now everyone gets rich not just owners.

But a 7 game series is as competitive as it gets. And we got 2

Agreed, but the games themselves kind of sucked. Chris Paul getting hurt ruined it.

Both game 7's weren't that competitive.

You think the Rockets-Warriors series might have been competitive if Chris Paul was playing?

Yep. I wanted fully healthy Warriors vs fully healthy Rockets.

If so they are running it well. Record profits, ratings, franchise values...

MLB has luxury taxes that go into revenue sharing. does the nba?

Yup.

The NBA base structure isn't terrible.

You have a salary cap. Teams can go over the salary cap to sign their own players but they can't sign a player that puts them over. Right now the number is 101.8 million.

Then there is the luxury tax threshold. Once you hit that, you pay a luxury tax. And if you remain above the luxury tax for consecutive seasons you pay a repeater tax. IIRC, the luxury tax is 123.7 million.

The Warriors paid 32 million in luxury taxes for this past season.

The problem is that there is really nothing the league can really do if players are willing to take discounts to go somewhere.

Kawhi Leonard is willing to give up 90 MILLION dollars to leave San Antonio.

yup. and this could be a tipping point.

time will tell.

Doubtful. People love watching great teams play.

Historically speaking, the NBA has struggled the most when they DIDN'T have great teams and great players dominating.
