Five-round mock draft: Buffalo Bills trade up for Baker Mayfield

Kind of crazy when he forecasts the Skins pick. He has us taking WR Moore over S/CB Fitzpatrick which is down right insane. In the 2nd round he has us taking CB davis from Auburn over OG Herndaez UTEP. Plus he has RB's Michael and Jones still available when we pick in the 2nd round. Interesting.

Even if we don't land a NT in FA getting Fitzpatrick and Hernadez in the draft would be a major get IMO.

I've had the Redskins taking Da'Ron Payne for a while, and I still believe he's a very likely selection. However, that would change if Minkah Fitzpatrick falls to them. Fitzpatrick is a stud defensive back, and it would be difficult for Washington to pass on him.

And yes, it's possible for Fitzpatrick to fall to No. 13. Teams will trade up for quarterbacks, and we've seen the safety market move very slowly in free agency. Plus, as Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Hot Press, some teams have Derwin James rated above Fitzpatrick.

Maybe this becomes a reality. J. Allen feel to us last year maybe this year its Fitz.

I am no draft expert, but as a fan who reads a lot, I think if we get Fitzpatrick, we luck out for the 2nd year in a row with the best defensive player in the draft. In his rookie year, I'd probably use him mostly as the slot CB. He'd probably have some freedom there and play mostly in the middle of the field - which would seem to give him the best chances to use his great instincts. And notice WalterFootball changed their mock today - and have Fitzpatrick sliding to the Skins. Oh, I see you did notice... before me, lol. Great minds think alike, and so do we.

I'm not really crazy about Fitzpatrick. I think the lack of draft depth at the position has raised his value artificially.

Hes half the prospect Jalen Ramsey was coming out of school.

Yeah Fitz is a legit player IMO in the late teens, early 20s

I am a Fitzpatrick guy. He probably has the highest ceiling in this draft in terms of defensive players and the second highest ceiling overall behind Barkley.

Anyone equating him with Ramsey is, imo, misunderstanding the two players. Ramsey was going to be a CB in the NFL and he played quite a bit of CB in college.

OTOH, Fitzpatrick is a very good S prospect, but a team expecting him to play outside CB will probably be disappointed b/c he barely played any snaps there in college, particularly in 2017. Minkah is a safety in the NFL.

OTOH, Fitzpatrick is a very good S prospect, but a team expecting him to play outside CB will probably be disappointed b/c he barely played any snaps there in college, particularly in 2017. Minkah is a safety in the NFL.

The scouting reports say he did play some corner at Alabama and would be outstanding as a slot or nickel CB - or as a DB covering elite TE's. Ultimately, he's ideal as at FS but could also star at SS. His versatility - as well as instincts and intelligence give him extry value to his team. He might not be the best safety in the draft (Derwin James) or the CB in the draft (Denzel Ward), but he does appear to be the best DB in the draft.

Realistically, the Skins are playing for this coming season - not for 3 or 5 years down the line. That's what happens when a .500 teams trades arguably their best young defender and a 3rd round pick for a 33/34 year old QB. Whether we like it or not. So, no chance they spend what it takes to get Hankins and then use their 1st pick on another DT - unless there's a huge difference in talent between him and everyone else available at 13.

So, if he is there, do we pass on possibly adding to our front 7? I think not...Nicholson's upside seems pretty good at the moment and we cannot cut DJ can we? I think our need (s) at pick 13 out weigh the player. Anotherwards, I see 3 possible scenarios:
1. Barkley falls to pick #5 and BA calls the Broncos to inquire.
2. We draft Payne or Vea with the pick.
3. We draft the VT LB because he is still there.

As of right now Fitzpatrick has to be higher on the draft board than Vea and Payne. If Barkley falls to #5 what do you offer the Broncos? I think a swap, our 2nd and Cravens does it. If Denver says no. Throw in a 2019 3rd rounder. We will be getting a 3rd round comp pick in 2019 for Cousins so that pick wont hurt us. Thoughts?
