The gave up a 2nd rounder for an 8 game rental. While it might take them out of the Cousins Market, or lower the market depending on how he does. Could also Skew the market if the Niners either resign him for big money, or franchise tag him.


Could also put the PAtriots in play for the QB market this year.

I think there are only two people that Kirk would leave Jay for. That is Sean and Kyle. I don't see those as options anymore. Jay put his job on the line for Kirk. Whatever misgivings Kirk may have with Bruce and Dan, I do think he feels some sense of loyalty to Jay.

Little things like Jay shaking Kirk's hand after a tough undermanned loss goes a long way in Kirk's book imo. Time will tell. Kirk just want's to feel believed in and appreciated. Jay did bench him, but Jay went against Dan for him as well.

Tell them to stick it up their ass. Heck right now no QB in this years draft has shown enough to be a top 5 pick so why give up a good QB for a 2nd rounder.

Captain Kirk isnt worth the money....

If they traded for Kirk right now they eat $12.5M in cap space, and IF they have to franchise him he costs $35M, plus Bruce would have wanted MORE than a 2nd rounder.

By trading for Grap, they take over $.5M (1/2M) in cap space, and SHOULD they need to franchise him, he costs about $22M.

Kyle isnt dumb enough to try and Trade with Bruce.

Krush... I would plead for leniency on this one. As the Niners are considered the odds on favorite for Where Kirk would want to go should we let him hit free agency, any QB moves they make are directly related to the Redskins... well unless Bruce just decides he doesnt care and he aint going to resign Kirk to be any thing more than a water boy for $45k a year before taxes.

its .5M and a second rounder to test a guy out for eight games.

At best he works out, they resign him and throw the 2018 QB market into flux.

At worst it cost them a 2nd rounder, and they still have the option to try and sign Kirk, or draft this years uber stud.

Although Brady is playing great and saying he wants to play another few years they now have no real backup. They have traded Brissett and Grap. They almost have to take a QB, they could work a trade up if they have someone they like with their 1st and San Frans 2nd. They can't go to the top of the draft but maybe halfway.

My take is Cousin's will not be playing for Shanahan or McVay next year. There are plenty of places he could still go.
