Cotton Bowl or today?

I was impressed but not surprised in Dallas. Just couldn't handle the TE. Today they got worn down by a superior team. But I wasn't expecting to compete in tMAC this year tbh. And they might be able to do that. Idk. But I love seeing a non-weirdo in charge on the sidelines. Minnesota is gonna regret that move. Shoulda begged Coach Kill to come back...

If WMU can develop enough of a passing game to at least make teams have to respect it, they have a great chance at competing in the MAC.

Just so you're aware. A MAC team just scored more than 30 points on your defense

Actually, 7 of the points were scored on a kickoff return and another 7 came on a fluke play (pass that should have been intercepted, but was tipped to the receiver who scored).

Having said that, I said before the season that I was concerned about the inexperience of our d-line and that inexperience showed for about the first 3 1/2 quarters of the game. Our d-line was eventually able to wear down and "out talent" WMU's o-line.

Hopefully, it was first game jitters (Helton said that a lot of the guys were out there with "big eyes" lol) because Stanfords o-line isn't going to get worn down like WMU's o-line did.

While watching reruns of some of the game this morning I can see, among other things, that USC 'special teams' weren't all that 'special' last night and we obviously STILL haven't solved the consistent 'penalties' issue. Gonna end up in the TOP 1 or 2 most penalized teams in CFB once again. :gaah:

The D-line is a 'work-in-progress' for sure. Lots of stuff to work on...

STILL... I'll take the win!! Maybe Stanford will underestimate us next weekend. :heh:

Funny you should use that term. I read this morning that when they got into the locker room, Helton yelled out: "Are we even anywhere near a finished product?" and the team burst out laughing. They could laugh because they won and also because they know how true it is.

Your QB is Wilton Speight.

Let's watch the putdowns.
Speight did just fine against one of the best defenses we're going to face all year on the first game of the season with an entirely new offense around him. I still like Speight, no matter what casual viewers want to say.

Honestly I don't think MnB watched the game. The kid that returned that punt had wheels. I think the announcers had that right. Definitely shades of Adoree. Gusting had that trick play read. If he runs through instead of leaping. It's either a pick 6 or incomplete pass. But I think WMU deserves much more credit than some people may realize.

I think Helton broke it down best during his press conference. They have a very solid stable of RB's and a great system. And an extremely under rated defense. The inexperienced WR's may have played a role in the two picks. But you have to give the WMU Db's credit.Especially that second pick. Extremely athletic play not many dibs make that catch and stay in bounds.

SC does have a few things to clean up.Getting Cam back was a visible improvement.Wasn't fond of the laid back style of defense they were playing at times. The WR's need to catch those balls. And they really have to clean up the penalties.I did really like the violence Rojo is running with now.And Carr was very impressive.Hoping the fix the bugs quick with Stanford right around the corner.

Good luck to WMU Smitty. They play MSU next week?

Not sure how you can like a QB that can't throw downfield.

Or how Harbaugh hasn't been able to develop anything better. I wouldn't even count him as a game manager.

Casual viewers... lol. He was Floridas best player.

I have to question if he even watches football.

Speight killed that team last year. And tried to again yesterday. Oh well, homer gonna homer.

SC can't get owned at the line on D like they did for three quarters yesterday. That really surprised me. Western has a lot of talent in the backfield, but that line got some serious push. I wouldn't worry about the drops. It's was like a hundred or whatever in LA yesterday.

I agree and thats a major concern especially with Stanford's Oline coming in. I get the heat and the new personnel. But they have to win those battles in the trenches.Hoping SC improves and builds off this game. But I'm all stocked up on vodka and weed in case. Next week should show a lot.For both SC and WMU imo

The SC line probably looks a lot better without all them drops...

Drops = Drive Killers

That's a good point.

Waaay too hot to keep those big fellas out there that long.

Hell, our left tackle could stay in a three point for two seconds at the end. (I think he had
Four penalties.)

You're outside the norm on liking Speight but I guess that's ok if he actually is better than the backup who did throw a 37 yard pass on his one and only throw. Speight with two pick sixes still has to face the Badgers and OSU. I honestly think Michigan should give the other kid a chance if Speight continues with the turnovers.

I had a few drops myself. Wound up watching the game on the ipad because it was on the PAC network.Dropped it a few times during that game :dhd: But I get nervous any time I hear the combination of USC and Bronco's :L

I'm a bit nervous with every PAC team winning this week so far...

I mean, when was the last time every PAC team won in the same week, or for that much any conference?

Them Bruins will try to make that happen, but if y'all want to see a suspect line, watch the Bruins game tonight...

I hope they can muster more than 75 yards rushing... :L

Imho if Speight plays like that against OSU, Whisky and or Penn State. I'm not sure the Michigan D is enough. I think all three have more than enough offense to capitalize. A pick 12 game against any of them would be a disaster

Are you going to be able to watch? I wound up downloading the PAC app. You should be able to watch or listen on your phone or a tablet if you are busy. Good luck to your bruins either way vitamike :suds:
