Going against the trend by starting the thread well ahead of game time. So far ahead that I have to pretend like I know what the lineup will look like:

Span - cf
Hernandez - lf
Pence - rf
Posey - c
Sandoval - 3rd
Crawford - ss
Jones - 1st
Calixte - 2nd
Samardzija - sp

For the pitcher. That's like the petulant child who is told to brush his teeth and responds with a quick brush of two teeth. Technically, the action has been done but half hearted and does no good.

I'm finally seeing the genius in Noggin's decision making, we are really going for the number 1 draft pick.

It's not really Noggin's fault that:

Smith was out for the year
Melancon was mediocre and hurt
Bumgarner missed 2 months
Cueto was hurt all year
Pence and especially Crawford were total and complete garbage at the plate
Panik was not much better
Everyone in left got hurt, including the guy who actually could have done some things there (Parker)
No one has any power in the lineup

I put Noggin way down on the list of this year's villains

Because who else you gonna use in the 7th inning with a one run lead? Its between Suarez and Osich, really.
Crick continues to impress. Where the fuck did he come from this year? Just about everyone on this board wrote him off last year...

i'd put the fo inability to come up with a competitive outfield as a prime reason

Well, you really mean LF, as Span has been passable and Pence wasn't going anywhere. And Parker woulda been ok in left if he didn't get hurt.

So injuries (all teams have them, but they do matter) and Crawford and Pence for the hitters, injuries and Moore for the pitchers.

But, I mean, let's say they won 87 games this year. The Dodgers would blow them off the field.
