I am surprised there is not already a thread for this. If there is, and I missed it, oh well.

Anyway, I watch it, but I have no idea if I like it or not. I have no idea what is going on. Am I just dumb, and missing everything, or is it a total mystery?

Anyone else watching this thing?

I tried watching it and couldn't get through a single episode.

It sucked that badly.

It's 3 years after about 1% of the worlds population vanishes and people are still reacting.

There's your first problem....people would have gotten over that by now.

Your next is that no one is happy.

Really?

Nobody...and I mean NOBODY is like, "YES! MY ALIMONY DRAINING EX-WIFE IS GONE!!!", or, "The guy ahead of me in the company vanished so I get to move up and take his job"!!!

Nope..none of that.

And lastly....they tell us that less than 1% of people vanished, and yet it was still enough to shut down parts of our infrastructure?

It's dark, depressing and very confusing.

Save yourself the trouble and just go get a root canal - it will be happier.

But I think I agree. I am giving it at least the full season, but all your complaints lead m to my head scratching on this one.

1% is a lot, sure, but the whole world is still essentially on hold 3 years later? I can see certain people still not coming to terms, but that is no worse than anyone who loses a "loved one".

Also, why have they been soooo blatant to avoid saying "Rapture"? They are certainly hinting at it, but they never once used the word. I don't see it as the same thing as TWD never using the word "zombie"; in the TWD universe, zombie movies never existed, so the concept is unknown (this has been stated by Kirkman). In Leftovers, they dance around the concept of the Rapture so much that it clearly exists (at least the pop culture version of it). Why avoid the word?

In the pilot there's someone on TV that actually says, "It's not the rapture".

The people don't know what happened exactly other than people have just vanished.

I've watched every episode... very hard to follow - but the last few episodes have picked up pace wise.

And its not the "rapture" - as dictated by the priest. Murders, evildoers, etc vanished as well.

This past episode shed some light as to what happened with everyone. And I fully get why the one chick is now with the "cult". (husband, her "child" vanished from her womb, etc).

The only reason I can explain why I keep watching it is to keep my brain from realizing that Game of Thrones is not on.

My sister (a bit of a bible-freak) told me yesterday that the biblical Rapture is the exact opposite of the pop-culture Rapture. Supposedly, the rapture is supposed to leave all the good people while all the wretched are taken away (I had never heard this before, and do not care about the bible enough to look into it myself).

How have the last couple eps given clues to what has happened? We certainly know a bit more about the central characters with the flashback episode, but I do not see that as any clue as to what caused the "departing".

I think the wife likes it?:noidea:

The 1% amounts to a shitload of people that para normally vanished...I think the world would still be gripped by it 3 years later.

Was not referring to the "departed" - was referring to why certain characters are acting like they are/were.

It's actually 2% of the population that vanished.

Don't know what part of the infrastructure is 'gone', but certainly a lot of people are still stressed by the event: Hence all of the cults that sprung up, & how many of the teenagers are largely devoid of morals.

Agree that the series has been a bit 'uneven', with some episodes clearly better than others. Not sure if I'll follow it next season, but I'll watch the season finale at the least.

That is an interesting take. But some of the people who vanished were not exactly "good"

The women who was about to have sex with the married chief of police and Nora's husband was not all that supportive of his wife. They both vanished.

For the record, the opening scenes for the show, display a new version of the Sistine Chapel.

Ha! I hear ya. I watched a few episodes and it just lost me. I think it's 3% of the population and it's the not knowing what happened that drives people nuts but you make a good point. I know a few people I'd like to see dissappear.
Nope..none of that.

I guess this show wasn't that big of a hit here. I enjoy it and am looking forward to the final season.

for a moment, detach yourselves from the reality that something so mysterious could never happen in our world and consider this type of situation happening ... you all dont think people would still be fucked up, grieving, searching for answers and meaning some 3 years later???? lol

On the 6th episode, and this show is really good. It clearly has nothing to do with solving the mystery, and everything to do with how it affects everyone. I picked that up from the first episode. If you understand that, it might be more enjoyable.

I am shocked they actually (kinda) explained what actually happened. The last 10 minutes of the finale may have actually saved the whole show for me.

They still never explained why Kevin was "immortal".
