The shocker is that Nebraska is even this. Nebraska is the team that has done the most with the least of all of the teams. Nebraska is the least populated state in the Power 5 conferences.

Ohio had 10,000,000 people in it in 1960, Nebraska had 1,400,000. Cleveland plus Cincinnati had the same population as the state of Nebraska.

Nebraska was agricultural, Ohio had the rich grounds of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio to choose from and with the Auto Industry being the #1 industry all the young families went there for jobs and produced children. Pennsylvania was producing the oil and steel. Nebraska was at a severe economic handicap back in the old days. Yet, Nebraska built a winning football program.
