Okay we have approximately 3 months until the season starts. This is a just for kicks question. Put on your G.M. hat for a second. The Texans will likely put the franchise tag on JJ Watt next season. if you managed a team that was in a good cap situation would you give up the 2 1st round picks to land him. My answer is yes I would do it in a heart beat he is one of the 3 best defensive players in the NFL. IF not J.J. is there any player in the league you would make this expensive move for (not including QB's).

I wouldn't do it unless he was the missing piece to a championship. I don't think that's Dallas

No because you are giving him a huge contract AND two first round picks. The contract alone would in theory be fair value and then you throw the picks in on top of it. I'd probably only do that for a young franchise QB.

Only reason im saying yes is because I believe he has top 10 of all time type talent if he can keep the current pace he's set.

1 minute after thinking about it , I changed my mind. I would if I was close to being a contender. You have to think he played last year and his team was the worst in the league

I'd pay him if he were a FA, but there is no way I would give up two #1's. With the reduced pay scale for rookies, and 5 years of control of that player at a lower rate, the draft is the way to build your team. Too many times the trade of #1's for a Star backfires, RGKnee, and The Hersh come to mind

Agree 100%. I never liked giving up two 1st on a WR and I wouldn't want to do it for Watt either. Now as mentioned earlier if he was to be the final piece to a SB run or two I might consider it, but I'd have to believe we had a very very good shot at those SB's.

He is very Charles Haleyish- meaning disruptive and Haley was the final piece

I think I might give up two 1st rounders for a young Revis

We ain't a final piece away. Besides Haley didn't cost TWO 1st round picks.

I didn't pose the question from a Cowboys point of view because we can't afford him anyway. More from a team who is a piece or two away that's why I made the question general.

I was comparing WAtt to Haley and even REggie WHite. Meaning they were final pieces. I didn't mean for us. A hall of famer is definitely worth 2 firsts if they are still fairly young and they put u over the top. I think if you are close you have to go all in.

I guess that would depend on the team and it's need. I don't try to get into what other teams should or shouldn't do. I don't have the time to juggle home life, work life, and my teams as it is.

there is very few I would give 2 1sts for & a monster contract too all at the same time.
I wouldn't do it.

Maybe the only scenario I might is if I just missed the superbowl & the whole team was young already, then his contract wouldn't cripple signing others as their contracts needed resigning & the loss of the 1sts might not be as damaging.

but to nail me down to one answer. it would be No.
