Do you think the Oilers will release McDavid to participate in the tourney?

As for Team Canada I like the look of that team. No huge star power but I think they'll ice a really solid team this year.

I particularly like the mobility they should have on D.

Finally the goaltending should be a strength as well.
It has been a few years since that has been the case

Hart and Ingram both sv% north of .930
Hart was CHL goalie of the year as a 17 year old

I would have liked to have seen Tyler Bensen on the list though.

I'd say most have a realistic shot at making the team too. Usually there are a few token invites that I wouldn't think have a chance. Chabot and Gauthier are returnees from the Q, with Chabot being the only returnee on D, so they are pretty much locks to make the team (assuming no injuries).

Pierre-Luc Dubois has not looked very good at all since being sent back to the Q from Columbus but he'll likely make the team based on his pedigree. Being the highest Canadian player picked in the most recent NHL draft will usually get you an invitation and most likely a spot on the team. He'll likely be more motivated playing in this tournament than he has been in the Q after being sent back down as well.

damn, I've been so busy with moving, work, and being distracted by the sideshow that was the US Presidential election, I completely forgot about the upcoming tourney...absolutely some of my favorite hockey to watch. Good luck (though I doubt you'll need it) you Canadian fucks :suds::D

Canada has only won once (2015) in the past seven years (USA and Finland both have two gold medals in that same time frame). I think it's pretty cool that this tourney is wide open and as many as five teams have a realistic shot of winning.

really? it certainly seems you canuckleheads always do well. or maybe it's just my feeble, elderly mind conflating WJHC, World Championships, Olympics, etc. to make it seem like more. and I did forget about the Finns (and the Swedes too I guess).

anyway, best of luck to all and here's to a great tournament.

A bit of a scare tonight for Team Canada (and my Sea Dogs) as Thomas Chabot took a pretty vicious slash to the upper body. He left the game temporarily but eventually returned so he should be good to go.

That one was an automatic.
He's the draw on that team

I love this tournament. It's always nice to watch some of your team's prospects too though.

The Sens WILL have (as JS said barring injuries):
Thomas Chabot (CAN)
Colin White (USA)
Filip Chlapik (CZE)
Jonathan Dahlen (SWE - maybe not QUITE a lock)

Could very well also have:
Logan Brown (USA - if he's healthy he's a favourite to make it)
Filip Ahl (SWE - probably less than 50% chance he makes it)

Really excited to watch those top 4 and Logan Brown, should he make it.

Go Chabot and Team Canada!!
