Lance Lynn struggling early down 3-2 in 3rd. Pito with a two-run homer. Fans begging TLR to resume drinking.

White Sox games have gone from being 2-0/3-1 snoozefests where being down by more than one run feels insurmountable. To now, where most games are marathon long back and forth circus acts. Where (despite being up 7-3) I am just waiting for the tipping point for the shit show to begin.

Nice outing by the Sox. Lynn righted himself and did 4.2 innings. Abreu hit two homers and got his average over .2t0. Moncada had a nice day at the plate. 9-5.

This is usually the time of year when Pito begins to really heat up. Maybe history will repeat itself. On a side note, I couldn't help but notice that we might have the first pitcher in MLB history in Bennett Sousa, who is sporting a 3-0 record with an 8.41 ERA. Gotta love that.

And TLR is using Sousa like he doesn't care if his arm falls off. Meanwhile - Graveman was up instead of Hendriks in the bottom of the 8th with the score 7-5 even though Hendriks hasn't been used in days.

Abreu is just streaky in general. He's also had some scorching hot starts before then tapering off.

Pollock quietly has 5 straight multi-hit games.

Offense is starting to show some signs of progress. Pitching is all over the place now, unfortunately.

Welp...

Cease about to have a 30 pitch first inning, at least.

Bullpen to be called upon early again. Hope we brought 9 or more runs with us again.

Sox win one for the clawless Tigers. Cease got himself righted after a lengthy 1st getting his 100 plus pitches in through 5. Joe Kelly returned with a nice relief performance. Vaughn had a big night and brought his BA to .306.

Someone pinch me because I must be dreaming.

Yoan Moncada with the BIG 2 out, 2 on 3-run blast! I know that had to feel good for him!

White Sox get a rare laugher 13-0 today. Pollock extends his multi hit game streak to 7 - Moncada gets 5 hit day - may crest .200 soon if he keeps it up. Sox needed a game like this. I hope they go to Houston loose and play unconscious.

I'm on the Strip at the present and happened to walk by one of the sports books (Wynn). At the time the score was 5-0. I decided to watch it for awhile, then left after it was 9-0. Since we were playing the Tigs instead of the Guardians, I figured the lead was safe. Fun to watch and like you said, quite rare this season.

Man, could you imagine if Moncada really found it today. Then, Grandal comes of the IL like he did last year (was actually getting going when he got hurt). On top of getting Eloy back soon?

The rest of our regulars seem to have found a bit of a groove. I don't want to say there's a light at the end of the tunnel in sight (yet).. but we'll just have to see how the HOU and TOR series go.

He's been having better AB's lately and a couple of nice hits this series prior to the finale.

He obviously wasn't going to slash .130./.220/.290 all year. I know that your thing is to state the most obvious "Joe Beer Cooler" opinion available. And to do it in the most "Joe Tool Box" fashion possible. But even you have to see that Moncada wasn't going to stay this bad.

No one is suggesting that he's going to revert to his pre-covid 2019 ways. However, it's very reasonable to suggest that he could, at least, perform as he did in 2021. Which was not his best, but still produced a 4.0 WAR.

Sad in a way that Moncada goes 5-6, an excellent day by anyone's standard, yet his BA after this is still a dismal .181

Of course on the plus side, we've managed to score 70 times in our last 10 games, a nice fat 7 RPG. And doing so without our offensive leader, Timmay. It took us the previous 20 games to reach that same run total. Now if the bats can keep this up and the pitching returns to its earlier season goods, we might just make a go of this mess.

Taking a series from the Asstros will make a statement of return.

I mean, honestly, think about it.

It's hard to (reasonably) envision a worse start from an injury standpoint.

It's hard to (at all) envision a worse start from a performance standpoint from everyone not named Vaughn/Anderson out of those that WERE healthy.

Yet...

Here we are. Right around .500. 5 games back in the Central. 3 games back of the Wild Card. The sky still very much intact above us.

If this has been as bad as it can possibly get - I actually feel kind of okay with things going forward. Come October? Way too soon to suggest that we can hold our own there. However, right now, I have to say... I feel as good as one possibly could about where we are in the central. I still believe we will take care of that. I think we hit a hot streak at some point. Then, we'll see about the rest come September when it will be post-deadline and we have an idea of how our (hopefully) healthy White Sox are looking down the stretch.
