Where Have All The African American Players Gone

I looked at the lineups for each team in the N.L. West games tonight and found only one American black player and that was the scrub Adam Jones from Arizona.

I remember Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Billy Wlliams, Bob Gibson, Joe Morgan, Dwight Gooden, Frank Robinson, Dick Allen, Curt Flood, Lou Brock, Willie Stargell, Frank Thomas, Reggie Jackson, Dave Stewart, Willie Davis, Maury Wills etc etc.
Where have they all gone?

Don't know. I'm watching Yankees/Diamondbacks now and it's easy to see the prevalence of whites in that game. Wonder if anything is done to get more people of color into the game.

Still plenty of people of color but what I've noticed is the lack of American blacks like the ones I mentioned. Many, many Latino blacks but the game seems to have passed by the American blacks.

Well ya, that kind of has something to do with it. I’ve never heard an interview from a first round baseball draft pick only attributing it to his upbringing from his mother or grandmother. Levar Ball gets hammered by the media, but at least he was there for his kids and in 99% of the time a baseball player needs dad, not having a coach fill that role.
