What should they change the shot clock to?

Why specifically is 35 seconds "too long?"

If 35 wasn't too long, why doesn't any other league have a 35 second clock? Not even WCBB use this garbage. CBB is the slowest basketball game in the world.

Anything 30 or below is fine

30 would be my minimum but also my maximum.

I can't see it being 28 right now, maybe as a transition.

I'm sick of seeing schools use the full 35, especially verse Cuses zone. Boringgg.

35 seconds is clearly too long. If you really pay attention to what's going on, a ton of teams waste the first 15 to 20 seconds of the clock before ever getting into their real action. They just dribble aimlessly or pass around the arc accomplishing nothing. Once the clock is down to 15 seconds or so, they'll run a play.

Now compare that to the NBA game, with 24 second shot clock. In a typical possession, you're likely to see an initial action (or dummy action), a counter, and maybe even another counter off that. Granted they are pros and have more time to actually learn multiple counters but the point is the shorter clock makes them get into their offense faster. And even with the shorter clock, they can run multiple action in that time, something that is more rare in college despite having more time.

Huh, I guess I'm the only one here who prefers the college game to the NBA or international play. You wouldn't think this would be the case, with the incredible popularity of college basketball overal and the fact that this is a college basketball forum, but there you go...

I love me some college football. I will spend all day Saturday watching. But there are more than a few rules I would love to see changed

I like college basketball. I don't like watching teams stuck running their half court "offense" which is just a stall game. I like college basketball a lot more than the NBA. But I'm not a fan of watching teams that waste the shot clock. But, that's not something that all teams do. If teams used the 35 second shot clock to look for a good shot then I would be in favor of the 35 second shot clock, but it's very rare for teams to do that. So I am not a fan of the long shot clock.

I'd like to see it moved down to thirty seconds, the game could stand being sped up a little bit.

If the shot clock has to be changed at all I'd say 30.

I don't necessarily think the shot clock is college basketball issues. For people like Jay Bilas who do think that is the problem, they should also talk to AAU coaches and implore them to better teach/reinforce fundamentals during summer basketball. Increasing the number of possessions per game does nothing if the shooting doesn't improve.

Yeah I was thinking about 28 or 30 would be the correct change. Getting adjusted to 24 is drastic but 35 is ridiculous.

Do they even use 35 second clocks in HS?

I live in Cali and High Schools here use the shot clock. 35 seconds for boys and 30 seconds for girls. Some states however don't use the shot clock in high school.

I remember NO shot clock and uNC holding the ball with "four corners", No three point line, and there were many games still in the 70's and 80's points range. The shot clock at 30 seconds is reasonable for any team to set an offensive play and run it. Less than that for college kids and it's a sloppy run and gun, up and down cluster IMHO.

Makes no difference to me. A shortened shot clock actually benefits my team, but I also enjoy watching them pass and set up shots, while working the defense.

I think it is the only real negative when watching college basketball. I cant stand watching teams waste 15-20 seconds each possession doing nothing but dribbling far beyond the 3 pt line.
