What should they change the shot clock to?

I think we all agree that 35 is way too high and it slows down the game as Men's CBB is the slowest game in the world.

I'm stuck between 24 or 30?

Leaning more towards 24 because that is where most professional leagues stand at and isn't College supposed to prepare these guys for professional basketball?

I agree that 35 is too much. 24 would be way too drastic of a change and I wouldn't like it personally.

30 would be perfect, imo.

Yeah I was thinking about 28 or 30 would be the correct change. Getting adjusted to 24 is drastic but 35 is ridiculous.

Do they even use 35 second clocks in HS?

Games would be much more high scoring if they went to a 28/30 second clock and also reduced the time to get across halfcourt from 10 to 8

I would like to see it dropped to 30 seconds. 24 is probably workable, but too big of a change to make in one leap.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that when you force the tempo to increase, you increase the number of possessions. When you do that, fouling is going to increase (again) so it will take players a while to adjust. Don't be surprised if you see a lot more guys foul out or get benched in the 1st half because of foul trouble, if you decrease the shot clock.

Agreed. If they lower it to 30 seconds then I think they should change fouling out from 5 fouls to 6 to try to help balance that out.

24 seconds. I think the game's rules need to be standardized across the NBA, FIBA, and College and maybe even down to high school.

SU (Boeheim) likes to sit back and use the whole clock...which I hate.

I'm all for a shorter shot clock. 24 is my vote. Maybe that will get coach to go to the bench more.

I dunno if it was here or See BS but I know someone once posted that they wanted to do away with the shot clock altogether because it gives an unfair advantage to the better teams....

I remember that, and it didn't turn up in doing a quick search, but I did find a thread pretty similar to this started by bks from earlier in the season.

Bitching about players not being ready to play in the NBA was a fucking dumb argument then and

Who has been watching the tourney and feels that the entertainment value is too low the way it is? I can't stand the NBA, but I love basketball, so none of this makes any sense to me. It's perfectly fine the way it is.

I agree 35 seconds is too long. But the NBA 24 second shoot clock is a function of 48 min game. So i will say 25 sec for college

Why can't you stand the NBA?
