The field is a joke. It is loaded with chumps that have no chance. They include:
Henrik Norlander
Vaughn Taylor
Kramer Hickock
Mark Hubbard
Bo Hoag
Denny McCarthy
Doug Ghim
Tyler McCumber
Andrew Putnam
Doc Redman
Jerry Kelly
Adam Schenk
Matt NeSmith
Robbie Shelton
Cameron Percy
Sam Ryder
Brice Garnett
Kris Ventura
Tyler Duncan
Xinjun Zhang

How can these guys get in such a prestigious event. Man, The Players used to be an elite field

I don't know any of the ones you listed either. Makes me wonder about the field every other week, lol.

Third strongest field so far this season at a 0.4 average. Only stronger fields have been the Sentry Tournament of Champs which is last year's winners (0.8) and the WGC (0.6).

For reference....

2020 Players - 0.5
2020 Masters - 0.3
2020 US Open - 0.2
2020 Players - (0.1)
2019 Players - 0.5
2019 Masters - 0.3
2019 US Open - (0.1)
2019 Players - 0.0
2019 Open - 0.0
2018 Players - 0.5
2017 Players - 0.5

So basically it is the same field strength as the past 4 years.

Good info. Seems like a lotta chumps are in this field. Perhaps it stands out more since it is such a big event.

If I gotta see that "Better Than Most" clip one more time, I'm gonna puke. Spent the last month fast forwarding through it it seems like 20 times a day.

I have to agree with him on that one. It is just soooo overdone.
It's not just the Tiger thing ...it's that it was their NBC announcer's call that they want to promote ad nauseam.

I'm so glad that Dustin Johnson said something when asked about the best monuments at the Players. .... somebody had too.

“Obviously one of the probably iconic shots was Davis Love out of the kind of left pine straw on 16,” Johnson said. “That’s what I remember for sure. But, yeah, I think there’s a few … obviously, well Tiger’s putt, but they play it like every five seconds so, you know.”

“Just wait a minute, it will be on again,”

It's iconic because they made it iconic by playing it ad nauseum. Nice putt but on ones like that they just get it rolling downhill and hope the hole gets in the way.

It just seems that way because there are more and more golfers no one has ever heard of playing and winning and therefore get into the field.

I do feel very bad to Lee Westwood. Man I wanted him to win!

Yes. The Woods knob gobbling we just have to live with, that won't change. But the call by Gary Koch is nothing special at all, its simply routine yet they try to make it sound like its something historic. The self aggrandization is sickening.

I would have liked to see Westwood win but if he couldn't, I'm glad Thomas won just to stick it in the eye of all the Cancel Culture assholes who tried to erase him for one ill advised comment.

isn't this how the field for The Players has always been selected though?

he did wrong and there are consequences.
