I'm not a Michigan fan, but I assumed all coaches do this. Why shouldn't a 5th year senior have to prove themselves if they want to be on the roster?
They've been around long enough where they should be leaders of the team. Some of them just become lazy entitled fixtures.
If a player has finished his degree, a fifth year should not be guaranteed. If, however, a player still needs that last term or two (or three for those schools still on quarters) to finish up, then he should be kept on scholarship. They do. Some players are asked back for their fifth year, while some aren't.

goes to show how soft Michigan players have been under Hoke. Boo fucking hoo big guy. Work your ass off and earn your spot.
I'm fine with it. They got their 4 years and degree out of the program and that's all that's really promised to anyone. It's pretty common for kids to finish 5th years elsewhere and not to be given a spot back on the team.
Is an ass jacket the opposite of a cheering jersey?I wouldn't want to play for that assjacket.
