Well, the Red Sox are the clear winners of the trade deadline.

Seriously.

How do they talk Oakland into giving up Yoenis Cespedes. 2 time home run derby champ, one of the best LFs in the game with a cannon arm for 2 months of Jon Lester and an old Jonny Gomes?

Then to top it off, they send John Lackey and a player I have never heard of to St Louis and they get a quality young starting pitcher in Joe Kelly(who should have been more than enough to seal this trade) and Allen Craig.

It's real possible the Red Sox are a better team after "selling" some of their players.

Cespedes, Craig and Kelly all have multiple years of team control left and they've all had successful careers thus far in their young age.

Red Sox GM should win executive of the year for this. I envy Red Sox fans right now(and I hate the freakin Red Sox too)

This Braves fan gets to drool over the exciting acquisition of Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell.

They'll have a stacked offense next season. Craig is a beast and Cespedes at Fenway will be something to see.

Joe Kelly is young and was arguably just as good as Lackey anyways. If they sign Lester back in the offseason, on paper, the Sox will be hard to beat.

I wish the Braves could talk other teams into giving us deals like this.

If John Lackey and an A ball pitcher are worth a young starting pitcher in Joe Kelly and a star 1B/RF in Allen Craig then Aaron Harang and an A ball pitcher should be worth Wade Miley and Mark Trumbo.

Kind of like the Giants winning it all on even years and being God awful in odd years.

I wouldn't go that far. His struggles this year are pretty concerning IMO.

True, but what he did last season, and years of team control, I'd gladly take him and Joe Kelly for John Lackey and an A ball pitcher.

Too many variables to for us Red Sox fans to start planning a Duck Boat parade for 2015 just yet, but I like what Ben Cherington is up to. The wild card is getting Lester back this winter or signing a top notch free agent hurler (or both), but things certainly appeared to take a turn for the better today.

If they get lester back, I agree. I think the Tigers got the steal of the deadline. Gave up jack squat and got Price!

Winner is difficult to determine and can be debated all night. The loser is a whole lot easier.

What the fuck was Tampa thinking?

Tigers & A's didn't do all that bad today either...

Tigers didn't do bad.

But I think the A's are retarded for giving up Cespedes for 2 months of Lester and a backup outfielder.

I agree.

But the Red Sox definitely got the most return for what they gave up.

Although the deadline is gone, Beane isn't done dealing....from what I'm hearing.
That's great, but at this point he is shopping for cast offs and anything that might be intriguing can be blocked by any other AL team..

I hate the Tampa Devil Rays, Joe Maddon and most of the players so I can only hope that this will signal the call for this moribund, shitbum franchise to be relocated to Montreal or Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Sox restocked in a big way.

Loathe their fans for the most part, but the team did a good job getting ready for the future.
