Kansas? Baylor? Rutgers? Oregon State? If they had played anybody in a P-5 conference, they would be 0-2.

I agree. OSU didn't look like the #2 team in the country for a good portion of that game. I don't doubt they end up there, but if we are really going to rank things by the way people played than OSU should be lower. I would add USC to that also
Agree with all except for the obvious....South Florida. I'm sorry, but barely beating San Jose St and Stony Brook means you suck the D Monday thru Friday.

Iowa State? Kentucky? Vanderbilt?
Front 7 did you watch the game? Throughout the bulk of the game.SC was playing a 2-4-5 base defense.Basically a nickel.Cam Smith SC's starting ILB was suspended through the first half of the game.Due to a targeting call in the Rose Bowl. They played a very vanilla defense.Even more so in the first half playing a bit too far off the LOS.A couple bad picks from inexperienced WR's.The second being a great play by the WMU DB.I'm shocked USC didn't drop further. If Western Michigan was able to do that to the front 7 of USC. They are in some trouble when they face some teams that can run the ball. WMU averaged 5.5 yards per carry on almost 50 attempts.
Kentucky and Vanderbilt were bowl teams last season at least.
Barely and they both lost their bowl games.
Still gets them above the Iowa States, Oregon States, Rutgers and Kansases of the world.
Kansas will be better than Texas this year.

They did improve in the second half.Smith's return at ILB was very noticeable. And the running game looked great.Rojo has bulked up and is running with a lot of violence. And Carr looks to be as explosive as billed so far. They do need to do a lot of work. The O line needs to be more consistent. They have to clean up the penalties.Find more production out of a WR aside from Burnett who was clutch. Hopefully Bebe is completely back from the hip flexor. And they have to get back to a more aggressive defense. Rankings are rankings judgement calls really.Much more concerned with Stanford than rankings. SC will need to play a much stronger game this week. But I do have to give WMU credit.Wouldn't be surprised to see them in a bowl again this year
