Ducks acquire D Francois Beauchemin from Maple Leafs for RW Joffrey Lupul, D Jake Gardiner and a conditional 2013 draft pick.

Good trade for the Ducks. Lupol is injury prone. Gardiner is still in college. He has some upside. Beauchemin knows the system & the Ducks need every defenseman they can get.

good trade for toronto ... i think value wise Beauchemin is more overpaid than Lupul ... Lupul will come back strong next year ... note to Ducks ... no Pronger or Neidermayer safety blanket for Beauchemin this time around

now if they can only fidn a buyer for Komisarek ... laughed when i heard Dreger last night say "Komisarek needs to play a simple game ... off the boards and out" ... lol thats what 4.5 mill per gets you these days i guess

It all depends on how much Lupol plays. He's been an injury waiting to happen most of his career.

Looks like a good trade for the Leafs, IMO.

Gardiner is a decent prospect and Lupul is a 20 + goal scorer (when healthy).

Regarding the trade, I agree with jstew, I think Nieds and Pronger prettied up the defensive game of Beauch. He's on an island this time around.

This must come as a shock for Lupul. In the midst of his injury laden, but potential-filled career, he's used to being traded for guys like Chris Pronger. Excuse me, not "guys like," but Chris Pronger. Now he's being mailed to Toronto for Francois Beauchemin? How the mighty ducks have fallen.
