Watching Detroit vs AZ

What's this rule for a personal foul when the defender attempts to block the field goal ? AZ was kicking a field goal on 4th down and they got an automatic 1st down on a personal foul, and man it didn't look worthy of an auto 1st down .... Is this a new rule ? All I saw was a DT reach up to try and block the kick, it didn't look like anything happened...

Any defensive personal fouls is an auto 1st down. I did not see the play so I don't know what the fouls is.
An off sides penalty for 5 yards would only be a 1st down if it was less than 5 to go.....

Right, but I"m confused on why a personal foul was called, they guy just tried to block the field goal, nothing malicious happened... The guy just reached up to block the kick and a foul was called...

He climbed up the back of another to get over/through the line. It wasn't particularly egregious but it was a good call.

Im assuming he jumped over a lineman or something which is not allowed.

This is the sloppiest game I've ever seen. Both teams should go 0-16 by default.
