Let there be no mistake, Sean Payton was open to leaving New Orleans. But interest in him, with compensation, not what he thought it'd be.

If you have a dream job of GM'ing an NFL team, do you bring in a guy that could potentially unseat you in a power struggle? He was toxic from the get go to any established GM.

That left only places that didn't have a GM in place. As an owner do your bring in a guy that probably wants his GM (Loomis) to come along with him after you look at the current state of the Saints roster?

I agree. I'm surprised at how patient Jerry Jones has been with him.

FootballOutsiders not only gave New Orleans the label of worst D in the NFL, NO's pass defense was 22% worse than the 2nd worse defense. To put that in perspective, thats also the difference between 31st place and 12th place. The Saints pass defense was AWFUL.

Last year, Footballoutsiders said they had the 31st overall defense. 2013 10th overall. 2012 32nd overall.

So pathetic defenses 3 out of the past 4 years wasting a franchise QB's career.


Yeah, I can see why there isnt much interest.

......irsay/indy wanted him but it didn't pan-out,.......he's still under contract for two more years with/saints.

His last playoff win they ran the ball really well. Ingram was having a good year and Hightower had a monster end of the season. It was picking defensive coordinators/defensive talent that was the problem. That's what always derails the great offensive guys... Reid, Shanahan, Payton all come to mind.

The draft was a major improvement last year with the Ireland hiring. Ireland probably gets involved in the personnel hiring.

They are 7-9 the past two years with a roster that could have been much better than that. Add bounty-gate and I wouldn't want the guy near my team either.
