Think he is a TB at Salem, have read he could be a FB at VT. If he can put on some weight... Could be Sam Rogers Vers. 2.0. Looks to be talented enough to play in the secondary or WR too.

Right now he has 8 TDS, 533 yds, 8.7 yds per rush. And that is against good competition, the only 2 AAA teams in the area and probably the best other AA school in the area. Salem will probably be undefeated this year... Easily.

A "SuperGuru" on 247 thought we were gonna get him. Same guy just said that he has been contacted by Florida and told that they can't accept his commitment. Very strange situation for sure.

I get the impression some recruits like a little drama in their announcement. He seemed like a good fit for VT, but he can go where he wants.

A Rocky Mount NC writer said (on Gaines' twitter) that HG spoke with UF coaches last night. But.... I would hope/think the S. Fla. 247 guy would have spoke with UF before tweeting that.

Yeah... This is getting pretty weird. Break out the popcorn. I will be interested in how this shakes out.
and FWIW no one is showing him as committed to UF yet.

Saw on TKP board, same Rocky Mount writer confirms as of around 7:30 Gaines and UF hadn't spoke yet. Think Houshon may get a little egg on his face here. Anyhow, moving on. We still have Sweat and Dalton. VT will get theirs.

Agree. With the need at DE, VT might still take him if he conducted himself accordingly. But Gaines seems like might jump ship as soon as another SEC school comes a callin
