So HS players want in the SEC so bad, they they're jumping on offers from KY and Vandy these days. VT should have jumped on the chance to join the SEC when they had the chance.

We need to play regular games with these border teams (Vandy, Kentucky, Maryland (now that they are B1G) and other close schools (Rutgers, USC) and clean their clocks.

The whole recruiting thing is beyond "we have to win our big games" when we have defensive recruits skipping on VT for UK. If this isn't a wake up call to our recruiting shortcomings, I don't know what is.

Things definitely aren't going well. In terms of DE need to get several of Sweat, Taylor, Hill, Gaines, and Ford. I don't know much about the last two, but we seem to be positioned well for the others at this time. Of course we know how that goes...

How much longer do y'all see Beamer sticking around. I guess to follow that, do y'all see his replacement coming from inside the program or do you think they'll try to seek out a proven hitter? Frank's been one hell of a coach but it just seems that the times are passing him by and it's starting to show in recruiting.

I can't see him lasting more than 5 years. He's probably done when his contract is up, which I think is up in a couple of years (but I could totally be making that up). Previously I would say that the new coach would come from inside the program, but with our new AD, anything is possible. He got Buzz Williams to coach our bball team out of nowhere so I wouldn't be shocked if he got a football coach no one saw coming either.

But yeah, I think that's part of the problem nowadays. Beamer is older, doesn't get personally involved in the recruits that much whereas a lot of younger coaches are. The new AD created some new positions to boost recruiting efforts this year so that'll help some for the time being.

But the key to winning these recruiting battles is getting back to winning a lot of games (notably big games), getting back to being a Top 10-15 type program, and getting that excitement/swagger back in BBurg... That all starts with a productive and to some degree high octane offense that can score points.

I'm not too awfully concerned about losing this Fullwood kid. It stinks.. But Bud has fielded atop 20 defenses with undersized linemen and walk on linebackers for years. When that changes, I'll be worried.

Besides, There is some excitement around the UK program right now with Stoops as the new coach and yeah, being in the SEC does not hurt. They will continue to be the doormats and the excitement will wear off quick.

Agree with everything mentioned - but what I bolded has me most concerned. We haven't had this since 2005....almost a decade ago. And that starts with recruiting, we had a great class last year, but I am very concerned about this one offense-wise thus far. Having **** star offensive talent so close to the burg heading other places hurts. We need these new recruiting powers including KJ to hit the ground running and make something happen.

I would love to be proven wrong but I am underwhelmed with Hall on film and the camp reports that I have heard from a few people.
