VT is certainly on the very short list of finalists, but I don't see how you could call it.

Just keep your fingers crossed on this one and hope for the best. We could really use him.

Seems like Austin Clark is between South Carolina and VT. Most of twitter seems to think South Carolina, but everyone is just guessing at this point.

I read earlier that if Austin Clark committed to South Carolina (notified the coaches), that JC Shurburtt would be the first to know. JC just switched his prediction to South Carolina an hour ago...

What is interesting though is that he had SCe listed previous to that change. Sounds like a call in to the Bill King show tomorrow morning to get JC's take. :)

I noticed that too. He actually switched his prediction briefly to VT yesterday morning, so I don't know why it says that.

Definitely mixed signals on Austin Clark.

I guess we'll have to wait for his announcement, and hope for the best.

Don't think we get Clark. He gets to play in the best conference in football, Carolina has a better coach, and also has a need for OT, just like we do. Sucks, but it is what it is. If Beamer fired stiney when he should have (or never hired him as OC to begin with) then we aren't in the position we have been the last couple of years.

It's been a while since I've called into the Bill King show. If I get in will see what JC still thinks...

Edit: While I was on hold a gamecock fan was on and they answered my question - based on new intel, JC changed his projection last night to USC-E. We will just have to see I guess...

EGW changed his prediction too. I'm not too optimistic about this one. Probably another in-state 4* at a position of need leaving VA. No surprise there, unfortunately.

It appears that all the VT predictions moved to USCe.

So while I'd like to be surprised, um, I'm not expecting it.

What should be surprising is that it's not like this kid is going to Alabama. USCe has hardly had a lot of success on a national level that we should be losing kids from our own backyard to them.

I am not convinced VT's recruiting has really gotten any better over the years. There has been more talent in VA, so we'll get a bit of it, but I would hardly call the last 2 years, and especially this year successful

Maybe I feel more hopeful than I should be here, but I think we need to give it a little time. I think it is becoming evident that we are not having the same level of success obtaining in-state talent that we had in the past. However I am a big believer in our new AD and I do feel he will do everything in his power to help in this area where he can.

I think we got very good classes the last couple years. This one is underwhelming so far but there is time to turn that around. Will be disappointing for sure if we lose Austin but we'll manage.

I'm sure we'll hear that Clark wasn't that high on VT's depth chart and that there's a 2-star guy whose only other offer is from UMass that the staff really thinks is a stud in waiting.
