Game Thread: Vancouver Canucks @ Philadelphia Flyers

OK well, last time this worked. Big week for us to try and show some progress and hopefully go 2-0 with a nice long break until our Rangers game to continue working on the new style of hockey Coach Chief wants to play.

Vancouver is coming off a loss in Montreal, a pretty bad one so they aren't exactly hot right now. They have scored 9 more goals than us in 6 games but thats no surprise. Other than that I don't have much insight here. Would like to see Mason start, which I am pretty sure is happening after Emery's mess in Detroit. Also it be nice to see a Giroux goal.

So far I'm pleased w our dmen getting the puck out of our zone. Our PP still sucks, but at some point it'll improve once Vinny comes back. Bobby Lou doesn't look like he has his A game tonight. We need this game.

I have to admit that Torts would have made this team work, especially w our pathetic slow defense. We can't score anyway, at least the boys could learn how to block shots and play defense.

Coburn, Grossmann, and Giroux may earn 3 goat honors for that 2nd goal against. All 3 of them were within 4 feet of Higgins but none of them covered him on the door step.

Shame on Giroux, Coburn, Talbot, and read. Pathetic attempts at defense on the two 3rd period goals.

They're really not that old on defense. Streit and Timonen are old. The rest are pretty young though..

Grossman, Mesz, Timonen, and Streit are either old or they are simply too beat up to hang at this level. Either way this defense won't get it done. What's worse is we can't even score to mask this problem. Feel bad for Mason. He played well but his stats show otherwise.

They're not losing solely because of bad D they can't score. Tonight they really only gave up two goals unfortunately they were horrible defensive efforts. But where's the offense? The only guys doing anything are the AHL'ers!

I was pondering the trade talk and since Vinnys coming back it may accomplish the same result so I'd stand pat. Otherwise you risk getting ripped off. If anything bring up another guy from the minors Thur night.
