Nova got beat up pretty good by SU. Nova lost to SU by 16 in Syracuse. Why would nova grade out higher?

Im assuming that the computers value Novas neutral court wins over Kansas and Iowa at a higher value than the Cuses home court win over Nova. That is really the only thing that makes sense I guess.

they are just ratings systems. I think anyone who watched that 'Cuse vs. Nova game knows that 'Cuse is the superior team. Problem with computer rankings is that THEY didn't watch the game. just like johnboy!

I love the way that any program's fans that is not ranked #1 at the moment says, "rankings don't matter at this time of the season" :laugh3: Ask some SU fans. Yet they say that SU should be #1, yet tell AZ fans that we suck because we don't deserve our ranking of #1. It's called bragging rights until March. SU fans, If ARIZONA sucks at #1, what does that mean SU does as #2?

GO CATS! BEAR DOWN!

The concensus so far is that SU/AZ and Wisky are not competing for the same location so their rankings and ratings are not much more than discussion points.

Now Nova and SU would be looking for the 1 seed in the East and that got my attention. But there is so much basketball to go. SU playing a H & H with Pitt doesn't bode well for the cuse. Pitt's ended SU undefeated streak the last couple of seasons.

Right now SU's played the bottom of the ACC so thier resume is getting weaker. I didn't think UNC would be the bottom but they are so it is what it is.

jonvi, I agree with you, it is what it is......until March.
I would like to see SU and AZ stay 1 and 2 the rest of the season and meet in the NC.
I am a realist though. I have no idea who will be #1 when April is over.

MSU is a very good looking ball team. Every team seems to have shown a weakness of some kind. I'm thiniking every team in the the top 15 is looking like they could beat any conference leader on any night.

agreed, I would just be worried about harris's health overall and plantar fasciitis. those two things alone could prevent MSU because just like arizona they do NOT have a deep bench. That being said, 1-7 I think UA and MSU (and maybe UK if they figure it out) have the highest "if they play their best game" ceiling out of any teams in the country. Now with a team like Iowa, they have an extra 2-3 quality players on their bench that could come up huge at any time in the tourney, and I think to a lesser extent Wisconsin as well. Top 7 don't compare for either of those teams, but sometimes it's the bench players that can be the difference between making the final 4 and flaming out (see Louisville in last year's tourney)

This is HUGE for Iowa especially come tourney time. Frankly we are playing too many guys extended minutes as it is right now. 11 guys averaging double digit minutes BUT Fran seems to be paring down the roation as we are seeing less and less of guys like Peter Jok and Anthony Clemmons. A 9 man rotation is fine IMO, honestly Id be happier if he sat Woodbury and just started Olaseni as Gabe is far and away our better choice at center right now but having guys like Olaseni, Uthoff, McCabe ( his performance yesterday aside) and Oglesby coming off the bench is going to really help in those quick turnaround games. Guys like Marble/White/Basabe are going to carry the load in the first games of the weekends but having a deep bench can really help on the second games IMO
