Long is an understatement. Athletic department is a mess, the basketball program ( which has been the best part of UNLV) has lacked in the last decade. They have a former high school coach leading the football program now. Las Vegas produces some very good home grown talent, but they leave there for Pac 12 schools, so they have a lot of work to do to move to P5 level

It's true. Bishop Gorman (football) and Findley Prep (basketball) dominate. They pick up a ton of elite talent transfers.

I thought New Mexico State's old hoops coach Marvin Menzies was a pretty embarrassing hire as well after everyone else decided they didn't want anything to do with the job.

Three players just quit today after a program record 21 loss season. One player who averaged over 9 points returns and he will be a senior (unless he quits too). They have one recruit signed for next year, a two star. What a mess.

Just 3 years ago they signed a top 5 class in the country, and now they can't even get 3 star kids to sign there. They are going to be truly awful next year.

UNLV will never get into the PAC . The arm twisting at Cal and Stanford needed just to get Utah and Colorado in was tremendous. Getting UNLV into the PAC would be like trying to get Kim Kardashian into MENSA.

There wasn't any arm twisting about Colorado. Utah yes but the conference needed another team and Cal has a bunch of hippies who are intolerant and wouldn't include the only team west of Texas that would bring anything of relevance to the conference in BYU.

It doesn't make sense at all for the Pac 12 since we essentially own the city already. But it makes sense for the Big 12 trying to keep the conference together.

The Fertitta FB Center will probably help their cause more than the new stadium, but that still won't get them into a Power-5 conference. Only putting together several big-win seasons and drawing big crowds can do that; and most of the folks around Vegas will probably be spending their money on NFL tickets rather than supporting a ho-hum college team. If anything, the NFL's presence will diminish the support for the local college program, just has it has done in many major metro markets.

The Pac 12 Will have their title game in the New stadium without UNLV. If we won't take Noise State or San Diego State we sure as he'll won't take a school that offers nothing to the conference. We can play in the city without them....although Vegas is a better fit than Utah or Colorado in our conference.
