Back to reality. He did none of that for us and there was no guarantee he ever would. He hit .160 for us for goodness sake. We didn't trade Dan Wilson it was Castillo. Sorry my AC went out Saturday and won't be replaced til tomorrow and it is 115 every day and I haven't slept much at all!!!!!
That .160 was in 6 games though. That's not a big enough sample size for a good team to......oh wait, I forgot this is the M's. 6 games is enough to say that Castillo would never hit but it takes 2200 ABs to make a decision on Smoak and 2100 to make Ackley a bench player.

He is batting .230 since start of last year which includes two hitter friendly parks in Chicago and AZ. Not really sure what all the fuss is about?

25 AB's for M's is too small a sample size, but 55 AB's for AZ and this guy is Johnny Bench.

We are talking about a guy too lazy to even have 2 L's in his first name. Outside Safeco stats mean nothing...uh just look at what we got for him and how that changed.

Montgomery really didn't have that good of stuff yesterday. Three walks, a hitter batter, numerous 3-ball counts. His strike ball ratio was 62/51 - not that impressive. He couldn't spot his fastball for shit last night. I wonder when the last time was that a MLB pitcher threw a 9 inning complete game shutout and threw 51+ balls in the process. I'd bet that it has been a while.

But what the hell, I'm not picky about how my team gets a one-hit shutout win.

It helps equal out those stellar games pitched by us and still lose games. We got one that went our way!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!

I agree. I actually think his lack of control helped him last night. It might have been the third inning or something and they showed a graphic that he had thrown more balls than strikes at that point in the game.

You have to be a patient hitter against Montgomery.

It's not that he is Bench but that is just how bad Sucre is. They need another catcher, I think you're misunderstanding some people not understanding the trade. Gave up nothing for a need then gave up a need for another all or nothing guy.

I wish I could be mad at one or a few guys but I feel like every single one of them would K with the bases loaded and 1 out. It's just an inept group.

Why pull Walker so early? He was on fire and only 70 some odd pitches?

Sucre is a bad hitter and Castillo was a bad hitter for us as well. So we traded a bad hitter and replaced him with a bad hitter who plays maybe once a week.

There is nobody in baseball that would ever agree that trading Castillo for Trumbo was a bad move even with how bad Trumbo has been hitting. That is my point. That and people using Castillo's AZ stats vs Trumbo's M's stats.

Well it looks like getting Edgar is paying dividends. He's not a fool that wants every batter to try to pull everything. Cano's starting to use the whole field again and he's starting to heat up.

i'd love for cano to wake up, but there's still little indication that he's heating up, unfortunately.

cano has 10 total hits in 42 ABs since Edgar came aboard, and 4 of them were today.

he's gotten zero hits in 4 of the 10 games that edgar has been the coach, including 3 in a row before today's game.

but the m's have won 2 games in a row, which is an extreme rarity for 2015, so i don't want to be too much of a downer.

Still think Canos issues are mental. Stuff like his base running mistakes and pitch chasing lead me to believe that. I don't think a hitting coach will make a difference for a guy who has hit his whole career. I believe he will eventually figure it out but not sure it will be enough to make up for the last three months.

i agree completely

i said it before a few weeks back, but he lost his grandfather in the spring, and looking at interviews, he was a major driving force for baseball in cano's young life, and it continued as a pro

i'm not making excuses, but there's no way he's this bad unless it's something mental

I agree with both of you. It is mental and the grandfather scenario could be spot on. And/or he misses NY. Not making excuses, but it happens.
