Trout still has a slight in WAR, but not as much as in the past...

But, very interesting comps.....

bWAR has Trout at 7.6 and Stanton at 6.3. fWAR has Trout at 7.5 and Stanton at 5.8. The gap between them in plate appearances is pretty small, so 1.3+ wins seems like a more of a slight IMO.

A lot of it seems to have to do with offense (i.e. BB-Ref has Trout at +51 runs offensively, Stanton +38) and positional adjustments.

Juan Gone and Canseco were both excellent all around athletes with speed when they were young...just saying.
Trout and Harper both said they were trying to add a lot of muscle last offseason, and I thought somebody should have pointed out to them how Hank Aaron and Willie Mays were built...

What's the point in being 240 pounds to play baseball? I don't understand why he would gain so much weight.

Pretty interesting read...with Trout's speed and defense declining with him bulking up, they may be similar players at this point.

Is Mike Trout becoming Giancarlo Stanton? - Beyond the Box Score

I did read that a lot of Trout's drop in baserunning numbers has been attributable to circumstance, so he might actually not be declining in speed.

Trout's also still the better contact hitter. Pitchers have just now finally adjusted to him, though, which is why his average is down. It's kind of terrifying, actually, that at the peak of pitchers' game plans against him, before he makes his adjustments, he's still an excellent hitter.
