Would be great to just drop Mitchell and use the money he would have made on Boston. If they can work it in with Bell's contract.lets get em, sounds like he wants to be here too

I was wondering that the other day. It would have to be a big cut to make him an affordable backup though wouldn't it? And, do we even want him back as an affordable backup??? His level of play has clearly fallen. How hilarious would it be if Mitchell takes a pay cut to stay here and then they pay Boston what Mitchell would have made! And Boston would become the starter.
That would be one helluva blow to his inflated ego.
Tomlin has proven in the past that he's not afraid to shell out $2-6mil for backups with experience. JJ Wilcox the most recent case on a very lengthy list of overpaid players that ride the pine for 16 games.I was wondering that the other day. Plus would his inflated ego even accept a big pay cut and a backup role???????????????

Its sad that Mitchell was being paid TOP 3 of all Safety salaries on a per year basis over the last 2 seasons, and there were probably 20-30 players at either FS or SS that were playing better than he has over the last 2 years.Mitchell has to know his days are numbered or something significant is going to happen to his salary this season...he's simply not a good enough football player to command that kind of money anymore...it happens to the best of them and he was far from being the best.
Hope they land Boston something fierce...I agree that helps Burns to have a legit playmaker behind him.
WOW! His play is trending way down. He was much worse this season than the season before. The coaches have to see that, right??? I just hope the coaches don't try to rationalize that his poor play was all due to the injuries. Yeah, they didn't help but even when he was supposedly healthy his play sucked big time. Its sad that Mitchell was being paid TOP 3 of all Safety salaries on a per year basis over the last 2 seasons, and there were probably 20-30 players at either FS or SS that were playing better than he has over the last 2 years.
Yea I have a hunch that the "groin issue" in 2016 was him playing sheep in the eyes of his critics. Now that he has zero excuses I wonder what farce he'll come up with next. In Mike's eyes he's the greatest player to ever grace the football field so I'm sure he won't go quietly.WOW! His play is trending way down. He was much worse this season than the season before. I can't remember. Is that his contract from when he first signed or an extension after playing with Troy for a few years? He definitely looked much better when he was playing with Troy. Troy made Mitchell look much better than he really is and without Troy he looks really bad!To put Mitchell's salary per year into perspective... Before Eric Berry's new contract I think only Devin McCourty & Earl Thomas made more than Mike Mitchell did.
That's absurd.
Its his original 5-yr contract he signed back in '14. He looked ok but was never that great. Polamalu was a shell of himself that year, and I think only played 8-10 FULL games.I can't remember. Oh, so he sucked from the beginning. Got it!Its his original 5-yr contract he signed back in '14. He looked ok but was never that great. Polamalu was a shell of himself that year, and I think only played 8-10 FULL games.
He wasn't as terrible as he is now. But maybe its the schemes that he benefited from? Lebeau vs Butler/Tomlin?Oh, so he sucked from the beginning. Got it!
