So I am in a 12 team h2h dynasty league with QS and I am looking for a SP. I currently have 4 1b, Votto, Teixeira, Morneau, Craig. I am just curious what type of pitcher I can get for Votto or is the value too low that I should just hold him? My starting pitching is average but could really use another top 30 SP.

I would not move Votto now, and for the reason you stated, his value is about as low as it has ever been now. As such, I think you need to wait him out, and try to move him once he gets healthy this year, IF he gets healthy. Your other guys can be moved, especially Teixeria. But, as you know i'm sure, you will not get back the same quality as you would for Votto, but Tex does have vlaue, and would be the one to move now.

Yea but with Teix what type of pitcher am I looking to get? If all I can get from him is a 50+ sp type then I would probably just try my luck on the waiver wire. I already have several sp who are 40-80 type sp. I need that top 20-30 sp.

I agree not to trade Votto now. Either waiting until he is healthy or dealing somebody else would be fine. Morneau could net you a pretty decent P right now.

I'm having this issue as well. I should have moved him when I had the chance. This Baseball profcast I was listening to said he is no longer a big power guy. Which means once he gets healthy the best I would get back for him is probably a Miller or Weaver.

Not true. Votto is great in points leagues because he is always on base. He is super consistent and the lack of power does not hurt like it does in roto.

Remember, almost all fantasy analysts are gearing their advice toward 5x5 leagues. Yours is much different.

There's no harm though, in putting Votto's name on the block. Sure, his value is low, but if someone still offers you a pitcher you like, you are in position to take the deal. Obviously, throw out Morneau's name and Tex too, and see what bites, but I bet you can still get pretty good value for Votto's name alone, especially to someone desperate at 1B, and hey, maybe he doesn't shake this off, and it gets worse and you end up not selling low after all.

In any OBP over BA leagues, votto is an ELITE player... He is THE BEST OBP player in the game... So what if he is no longer a big power guy, not many players are... he will still get 25+... So what if he doesnt get the RBIs, he does get the runs... So even in Roto, he is elite... But in BA over OBP leagues, he is a little over-rated, but he still is a good BA guy...

Yea I don't mind losing the power but I am not in an OBP league. We go by AVG and right now hes not hitting 300 like he usually does. Ill take 100+ runs, 15hr, 80rbi for a 1b.

one guy in my league does need a 1b and said Anibal Sanchez, Bailey, Minor Gausman, Archer, Meyer, Stroman, Moore are his only SP he would be willing to trade. It is always hard for me to take an AL pitcher. I also don't believe Sanchez will be under 3 era again this year.

Just to throw my two cents in on this thing. I think Votto is along the lines of George Brett and Wade Boggs. If they are asked to be power hitters, they hit 30+ homeruns. But they generally weren't asked to be "that guy". Up until recently Votto was hitting second, meaning his job was to get on base, move runners and score. They moved him to clean up, bang, first game, walk off HR. If Cincy keeps him 4th, or 3rd, he may swing for more power.
I wouldn't trade him for what you'd likely get now. I feel his true value will be realized shortly after this injury issue and you'll be sorry if you ship him out.

Yea I feel the same way but shit he hasnt shown what we all want him to be this year. This league being a dynasty makes it hard for me to trade Teix and/or Morneau. Sure there are teams who need 1B but no one is wanting to give SP for them guys.

Him not showing his true value is the main reason you don't trade him. Unless someone is willing to offer someone worthy, don't budge.

Would Lohse be someone I could target with Teix or Morneau? or am I aiming too low?

I think that is OK for Tex if the market is not interested in your guys.

Just got offered Votto for Joshie Hamilton in my roto league. I kinda surprised myself by turning it down.

The more I think about it, maybe I was too hasty. Who knows what Hamilton does, especially with the thumb, and if Votto comes back strong, it's a pretty good deal.
