Timing will be everything on this list. If last year was a dud,and then go back 3-5 years, why is UNC above Virginia Tech by two tiers? VT is 33-20 over last few seasons not counting 2020. UNC is 20-29 in same time frame. If you want to count 2020, VT is 38-26 while UNC is 28-33. Go back a bit further VT had multiple seasons with double digit wins. UNC had one. West Virginia is about the same deal. They have had seasons where they finish barely above 0.500 and an 8 win season with a 10 win season in 2016. Has WVU played for the BIG XII title, I think UNC has played for ACC once. VT has played for way more titles and have a few under their belt. A lot of teams in Tier 3 have played in their conference championships, not WVU.
Oh nah man. You good. I was referring to the original list up top in original post. I am fine with where they are because they have fallen off quite a bit lately. I was just comparing the other teams in other tiers. Like if Miami and UNC are tier 3, I feel VT should be at least tier 4 if not tier 3. Not trying to be a homer by any means. Trust me, I know when my teams sucking. If the original post is ranking teams by tiers based on the last two to three seasons including the pandemic, I would probably agree with most of it. If it is going back 4-8 years, then...VT should definitely be on my list. That was a bad omission. They would fall in the 4th tier, in my opinion.
Utah is an easy 4 here imoI defined "Current", in the title as meaning the past few seasons. Last year was not a good year to judge the health of a college program. I chose the past 3 seasons as defining a current way of analyzing them.
Boise doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the 2nd tier. 10+ years ago, and argument could be made, not anymore. Here is my list (I'll just list the teams that matter).
These are off the top of my head, so I know I missed a few teams here, and I'm sure I'll want to rearrange a few of these teams, once some of you correct my errors...

Oregon has more CFB playoff wins than Notre Dame and Oklahoma
Its not about upcoming seasons though…and hypotheticals, or is it? Would think its recent history.I
True.
Would you wager your lefty on Oregon to beat ND or OU this year?

I did. I got a cover both times haha.Probably not, but I also wouldn't wager on ND over Georgia
Hard to argue with your top 2 tiers at the moment. I agree with this.I defined "Current", in the title as meaning the past few seasons. Last year was not a good year to judge the health of a college program. I chose the past 3 seasons as defining a current way of analyzing them.

Boise in Tier 2? no. Tier 4.I have a few disagreements with this list. I'll post the list here, and then post my thoughts on it after.
