Interesting one as it pits arguably the best Yankees 2b against arguably the best Red Sox 2b.

Tough one. Do you like longevity, or peak? Doerr had better numbers at the plate, but 1400 few PAs. I seem to remember Randolph as a good defender, but that may have just been his rep since he played for the Yanks (I still ignore defensive stats - they simply are not useful yet, IMHO). I have no idea about Doerrs defensive rep.

I think I will go with Doerr because he was SOOO much better during his 13+ seasons than Randolph was in his BEST 13 seasons (by a good margin).

I 100% disagree with you!!! It's not just about numbers it is where you would hit the batter. Randolph would hit either in the one or 2 hole and he was elite at that, he had good OBP, good speed and did not strike out much. Doerr's numbers look like a number 3 hitter but not a very good one. I would much rather have Randolph in my lineup because he does his job better!! He was also a better defender. So to me this is not even close!!!

Randolph wins!!!
