I am ignorant about their defense, so I will have to judge by their bats, and there is no comparison there.

I have yet to find a defensive stat that I trust.
Agree. The Saber-community is working on this right now, but I cannot image them coming up with anything that would not require a rather large dose of subjectivity.

Any idea what their reputations were at the time? Not sure it really matters in this case, though. Fox would have to be all-time caliber while Frisch would need to be Steve Sax caliber for there to be any further discussion between these two.

The White Sox teams of the late fifties were defensive teams if I remember correctly, so I would say Fox was really good. All I can remember about Frisch was he did something while being a player manager.
