Darrin Erstad is entering Season 3.

There will be higher expectations after 2.5 years.

On a positive note: NU challenged for the Big 10 Tournament Title and auto-aid last season. Came up just short against Indiana who made it to the CWS.

I have a hard time getting too much into Nebraska Baseball anymore.

It just seems like thee passion to win hasn't been there for about 10 years now

More like ability to win.

The 'youth' and 'new coach' stuff is good to an extent, but CBB has a high attrition rate to the major leagues. There are many teams that are young, but they grow out of it. Florida got off to a horrible start last season and kept improving enough to make the NCAA Tournament.

If the program goes sideways again this year there will be grumbling going into 2015.

Yea.....for me I think I just have a hard time relating to the baseball team. Growing up in a small town in Northeast Nebraska I just never heard of the baseball team.

I remember listening to and watching every Football game and doing the same for the Basketball games. I'll never forget all the Saturday Phillips 66 Big 8 Basketball matchups on ABC....and how beating Oklahoma State was the greatest thing ever.

Me heart just isn't connected to the baseball team. I would be super excited to see them make the CWS......but the season seems so long and disconnected from the fans. I can't listen to games at 1pm on a Thursday cuz I'm at work en sech. It's just difficult to follow.

It's kinda crazy how I grew up just at the perfect time.

Nebraska was awesome at both Football and Basketball in the early to mid-90's and I was 5-10 years old during that period of time. If only you can imagine what that's like for a kid that age.

I literally grew up not knowing that Nebraska is not the greatest University on the planet for sports to happen. I'm still learning today about the disadvantages that we really have.

I really enjoyed the baseball team when we went on our runs to the CWS back with Alex Gordon/Ledbetter/ and Jaba. With that said, once Horn left and Anderson took over I still enjoyed the baseball team but it was tough. We got worse each year with Anderson, but I grew up with his daughter in my schools and was around Coach Anderson all the time. He was the coach that always came to classrooms talking about the coaching life, how to teach kids, and things like that. He was a great guy to be around, but the team was getting worse with him as a coach. So it was kind of a torn moment when we had to fire him because he was a great individual, but just couldn't produce where it counted.

Doubt you'll see much if any baseball on BTN until basketball is over and inter-conference games start.

I do have to agree w/JJM on it feeling like the passion to win not being there anymore. At least from the administrative standpoint. Buck Beltzer was an outdated dump and they needed a new stadium, so they brought in a ringer to kick-start the excitement for the program and get their new state of the art stadium approved.

Now that they've got that, they don't give a fuck anymore. Hire a popular former player with zero coaching experience at any level because he'll work for free.

Makes me wonder about Miles and the basketball program sometimes. If he were to get snatched away would they be serious about replacing him with quality? "We got our new arena through, it's built, fuck it"

I'm really looking forward to this year's pitching rotation. If DeLeon, Kubat, and Bummer can all stay healthy it should be fun to watch. Hopefully Roeder picks up where he left off last year and solidifies that closer spot.

Nothin better than watching a game at the ballpark on a sunny day with a bag of sunflower seeds. Can't wait. Huskerz fer Champs!!!

Baseball America had us projected as a #2 seed against the #1 team in the country, Virginia.

Doesn't mean shit right now but is damn cool to think about getting a #2 seed in the Big 10 without winning your conference.

Probably need like 45 wins. They do have a lot softer schedule than the last 2 seasons though.
