I'm afraid with all this talk about, "simplifying" the offense that Nebraska won't be able to fully utilize the great amount of speed they have this year....

i think it will enable them to use it more! i think what they mean by simplifying is the fewer amount of plays, and less verbiage. but i have heard that in 1 play, receivers, under certain circumstances, will have to option of 2 or 3 routes...allowing us to use our speed a lil more to exploit holes in the D

Just because it's simplified doesn't mean it's not multiple. Bo said they don't have 170 plays, they have multiple things they can do out of each formation to get into the right play.

Very good.
One season I ran 5 plays in our playbook, but we ran them out of 5 formations. Great way to simplify and focus on the fundamentals of each play.
I am sure as the players get accustomed to Becks line of thinking the playbook will expand.

Also: My H.S. Alma mater runs basically 2 running plays and maybe 2 pass plays. They played for the Nebraska state championship a couple years ago, and make the playoffs just about every season.

It's not how complex your system is. It's how well you run what you have.
